So, you're the fat wife this time, eh? Of course the first question is, who are you?
Evelyn:
Known as Eve by your close friends, you met your future husband, Nathan, in your first year of university. The two of you had hit it off from the moment you met, though it always seemed one of you was taken whenever the other was single during your college years.
After graduation, the Britisher had decided to stay on this side of the pond, and at long last, the two of you started going out. You'd only been dating a few months before tying the knot, to the great consternation of both of your families. Nathan's relatives had been particularly furious. Only a couple of his cousins had attended your wedding, and you'd never set eyes on his parents outside of some photographs.
Shortly after your sixth anniversary, Nathan received news from his cousin Elizabeth. His father had recently suffered a heart attack. He'd pulled through, thankfully, and was trying to rebuild his burnt bridges while he was still around to do so. Nathan and you have been invited to the first large family gathering the Seward's have had in nearly a decade, and Lizzie assured you that this time you'd be given a fair shake.
Of course, you couldn't help but be rather nervous, as there was a couple pieces of info that Lizzie didn't know. One, that you'd been unemployed for over four years now. And two, you'd put on a not insignificant amount of weight...
Jasmine:
You'd never quite gotten over your first crush, so it had been quite a surprise when you bumped into John and his two year old daughter, Sophia, in the grocery store one day. He'd been your babysitter when you were both kids, and you were pretty devastated when his family had suddenly packed up and moved away.
The two of you had exchanged numbers and met for coffee shortly thereafter. It was there you learned that John was a widower, his wife Jane having passed just after Sophia's first birthday. The two had stayed with his parents for a time, but now John was ready to head back out on his own. He'd purchased Saul's Diner, an old Mom and Pop establishment next to your parents' General Store. John had gone to a culinary institute after graduating from high school, and had always dreamed of opening his own restaurant. And where better then his old hometown, in the very establishment that had been his first job back in the day?
That was three years ago now. The two of you had been a couple almost from the moment you met in the grocery store that day, though admittedly a lot of your dates had been spent sitting in the restaurant, acting as John's taste-tester. It wasn't all that bad, as John was a fantastic cook, though his portion sizes tended to be a tad unreasonable. Sophia had warmed up to you immediately, referring to you as "Mommy" as her default, and she truly felt like your own flesh and blood.
Well, just last week John had popped the question, and of course you'd said yes. The two of you were in the midst of planning your wedding, and you were about 95% happy with your life.
I mean, you'd never been the poster child of moderation, but since you started dating John, your weight is really starting to get out of hand...
Or, if neither of these options appeals, perhaps someone else?
