Brad Winters looked at the name printed on the card he had just pulled out of the box. Like a professional poker player, he carefully laid it face down on his desk and tried to keep a neutral expression on his face. Inwardly he was a mix of emotions.
‘Mrs. Eliot sure did come up with a crazy project. I can’t believe, of all the girls in class, I picked her name out. What will Jake and Gabe think? That I’m lucky to be getting a chance to get in her underwear or make fun of me for being ‘girly’ At 5’3’’, Brad was on the small side compared to other boys in his class which did little to boost his confidence.
Next to him Jake leaned over and whispered “Who did you get?”
Figuring that he would find out soon enough, Brad slowly lifted the card so Jake could read it.
Jake’s eyes widened after reading the name and he broke into a grin “Are you kidding me? You lucky dog” he said.
Brad looked across the classroom at his partner for this upcoming project. ‘So Jake thinks it’s cool. The big question now is what will she think about us wearing each other’s clothes.’
Brad’s attention was so focused on his pick that he didn’t even care who his friends had been matched with. The girl he would be partnering with was Lisa Rizzo, probably one of the prettiest girls in his grade. She was definitely the most popular girl, everyone wanted to be her friend, wanted her Likes or Follows on social media.
Brad had a nagging feeling that Lisa would burst into laughter when he told her they would be working together.
Without trying to be too obvious, he studied Lisa’s reactions as Mrs. Eliot described what she wanted from the students.
“Be creative. At the end of four weeks, you all will give a short performance to the class and I will grade it as the score for this project.” You can do it solo or along with your partner. You may make full use of all the resources of the drama class and stage. Most of all try to have fun with this and maybe learn something about your partner. Quite literally you will be walking a mile in someone else’s shoes.”
As Mrs Eliot answered some questions, Brad was surprised to see that Lisa appeared very interested in what this project entailed. She even asked a question seeing if it would be okay to use the following Free Study Period in addition to the Drama class period to work with their partner. ‘She sure doesn’t seemed fazed that a boy will soon be wearing her uniform’ he thought.
Mrs Eliot told the students to get started but his nervousness made Brad hesitate. He watched as Lisa was looking excitedly back and forth to see what boy she would be partnering with. Summoning up his courage, Brad stood and approached her.
“Hi Lisa” was all he trusted himself to say. He was bracing for the inevitable disappointed reaction.
Instead she gave him an almost relieved look “Are we going to be swapping clothes?”
Brad felt his hopes lift “It seems so. Is that okay?” He noticed that Lisa was looking his body up and down almost as if she was studying him.
“This will be such an interesting project. I’m really glad I’m partnering with you Brad.” He felt his misgivings melt away as Lisa smiled at him.

When Mrs. Eliot announced the details of this project, Lisa Rizzo was immediately interested even before she knew with whom she would be swapping with. She thought back to a role she had performed earlier this year. It was in the Shakespeare play ‘As You Like It’. Lisa had played a major part as Rosalind, a woman who spent much of the play disguised as a man (Ganymede) and was able to organize everyone to fit with her needs and desires. Rosalind’s aim was to turn the man she wanted to marry into someone who can match her qualities and be as strong as she was.
Lisa had found the character of Rosalind to be fascinating. She especially found it amusing that she had to disguise herself as a male in the play. Though everyone in school said she was very pretty and wanted to be friends with her, Lisa sometimes found it could all be so mentally exhausting. Seeing the disappointment in a classmate’s face when she had to turn down an invitation because she had already committed herself elsewhere almost physically pained her. Lisa wondered if this project might give her a small chance to get away from this demanding role at school.
Lisa’s contemplation was broken when Brad Winters spoke to her and noted that they would be swapping clothes. Lisa studied the boy in front of her ‘About the same height as me, close on weight also, and kind of unassuming.’ she pondered
Lisa looked up at Brad and gave him her brightest smile.
‘Oh, he should do nicely. Very nicely indeed’ she thought. Possible plans were already developing in her mind.

A short while later Brad was sitting in a nearby dressing room. Lisa had run off to search the costume area backstage leaving him to consider how life could present such unexpected situations. ‘On the bright side I can share with my friends that Lisa gets her underwear from Victoria’s Secret. The problem is that right now I’m the one wearing it’ he sighed.
Somewhat damaging to his ego was that all her clothes fit very well. Brad wasn’t sure what surprised him the most, that her Navy Blue blazer fit perfectly across his shoulders and chest or that her Black Mary Jane shoes slipped on so comfortably.
Trying to ignore the fact that he could be a stunt double for the most popular girl in his grade, he tried to focus on the task at hand. How was he going to portray Lisa Rizzo for the final grade? As a caricature or try for as realistic a performance as possible? To Brad, the latter option seemed discouragingly achievable.

Lisa had some success with her search in the Costume room and was now returning to Brad. She was having difficulty containing her excitement. ‘How fortunate that Brad is my partner for this. I doubt anyone else in class would have fit so well in my uniform. His body is perfect. The only question is can I be like Rosalind and mold Brad into what I want him to be. Or more importantly, need him to be.’

Brad was at that moment practicing sitting in a skirt. Standing and then making sure to smooth his skirt under his bottom before sitting. Crossings his legs and adjusting the hem of the Blue and Gray plaid skirt with his fingertips to ensure he wasn’t flashing his VS panties to anyone. These were skills he knew he needed to master. Brad made a mental note to have his sister Britney give him some pointers later. ‘Oh, she should get a good laugh out of this.’ Brad knew her amusement would not in any way be mean spirited. The twins had always been very supportive of each other.
Lisa entered the room wearing a short Light Brown wig that Brad remembered she had worn for a play earlier this year. The hairstyle wasn’t a perfect match to his own hair but the color was very close. She had obviously rushed putting on the wig since some strands of her dark brunette hair were slipping out. Brad had been so focused on how he looked in Lisa’ clothes he had forgotten about her change. Right now she looked very much like Britney’s twin brother
In her right hand she held a wig with long Dark Brown tresses.
“Your turn” she said with a devilish grin.

Britney Winters exited the school with a group of girlfriends and gave her goodbyes as she boarded her bus. As she walked down the aisle, she saw her brother in his usual seat but what was very unexpected was who he was sitting with. Britney actually did a double take as she realized that person was Lisa Rizzo. The two were engaged in a deep conversation.
‘Nice job little bro, cant wait to hear about this’ she thought. Britney often referred to Brad as her little brother because she had been born precisely 9 minutes before him.

Since Britney had taken a seat several rows behind Brad and Lisa, she was one of the last ones off the bus at their stop. The two were still standing together a few feet away as Britney stepped down
They paused their conversation as she approached.
