This choice: Brad suggests they spend time learning more about their partner • Go Back...Chapter #7Brad suggests they spend time learning more abo... by: Kirafair (Kira: Sorry but I broke the link in the last chapter showing how Brad was dressed. I’ll lead off with it in this chapter)
Brad currently stood in front of the class dressed in Mrs. Eliot’s clothes.

He tried not to focus on that fact and instead looked for a way to provide some helpful advice to his classmates.
“Okay class, I have a suggestion. Spend the next few weeks paying very close attention to your partner. Look for those little details specific about them that you can incorporate into your final performance.”
Brad’s friend Jake raised his hand and said to him “Mrs. Eliot, can you give us some examples?” He poorly hid a smirk as he was clearly aiming to tease Brad by using their teacher’s name.
Brad brushed off the joke “Well if I was trying to do a caricature of you Jake, I might overemphasize the use of some of your slang terms such as ‘Sup man, can you believe that dude bro in the ball game last night?”
The class had a good laugh at that but Brad wanted to get their attention off Jake. He walked up next to another student. “Take Lisa Rizzo here, I might try to incorporate how she moves her hands a lot when she talks.”
Lisa played along holding up her palms “What can I say, there is a lot of Italian in me”
Brad was hoping to generate some class discussion so he asked Lisa “Do you have any ideas about this project?”
Lisa provided some specific examples but then she looked at Brad and with a mischievous grin asked “Will you do the Mrs. Eliot RBF?”
At the mention of her name Elizabeth Eliot perked up but she was unfamiliar with the term used. ‘What is a RBF?’ There were several chuckles among the students.
Brad glared at Lisa briefly before walking back to Mrs. Eliot’s desk at the front of the room. He leaned back on the desktop and crossed his arms across his chest appearing to calmly look at the class.. Elizabeth watched as his face morphed from a calm demeanor to visible irritation.
Several students laughed and exclaimed “That’s it!”
Elizabeth Eliot still didn’t understand until Brad’s friend Gabe leaned over to whisper “RBF means Resting Bitch Face. You do it a lot while watching us in rehearsals when you don’t like how it’s going.”
She gave him a slight smile acknowledging the joke. ‘I wasn’t aware I did that. I’ll have to work on that’ she made a mental note.
Brad told the class to get to work. The classroom became a low hum of mixed voices as the partners began hushed discussions about their performances.
Jake took the opportunity to ask Mrs. Eliot a question “Are you going to grace us with your interpretation of Brad here?” he teased as his friend walked up. Brad and Elizabeth looked at each other with surprise.
She silently contemplated his question ‘I actually never considered that. I haven’t done any serious acting in years now’. She felt a sadness that she had been trying to ignore for awhile now. She had met her future husband Tom while they both were students at New York University. He was working on his Electrical Engineering degree and did some part time work on stage lighting. She was a Drama Major while also Minoring in Education. She dearly loved acting and hoped they could have stayed close to NY City and all the opportunities it afforded. But Tom got a great job offer in the Midwest and so here she was, teaching acting instead of doing it.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Gabe as he passed his Chromebook laptop to her to look at “This is what it would look like if Mrs. Eliot tried to act like Brad” On the screen was a GIF.

Elizabeth recognized the actor as Steve Buscemi. She barely contained a scowl ‘I’m only 25! I wouldn’t be that ridiculous if I acted like Brad’ she thought dismissively.
Other students were now looking at the image on the laptop screen and laughing.
‘So they don’t think ‘old’ Mrs. Eliot can do a good impression of a 15 year old boy’ she thought.
She acknowledged the joke to her students with a grim smile of her own.
‘Challenge accepted’

Eventually as the end of the school day neared, the students left the classroom in pairs to swap back to their own school uniforms This left Brad and Elizabeth alone in the room.
“Should would find an empty dressing room to swap back?” Brad asked
Elizabeth had been studying him closely as he moved about the class in her dress and heels. ‘Pretty good start. So much potential’ she thought
“Actually Brad I wanted to discuss an idea I have with you”
Brad waved his hands at his body “Can it wait? I can’t very well get on the bus dressed like this”
“Oh I understand. I will gladly drive you home after school. Would that be okay?”
Brad looked at the woman that he had been harboring a secret crush on all year and now she was offering to personally dirve him home. He instantly replied “That would be awesome!”
Elizabeth paid close attention to his body language and mentally tried to mimic Brad’s speech pattern ‘That would be awesome indeed’
*****
The school was mostly empty as Brad collected his bag from his locker. He felt a tingle run through his body as he and Mrs. Eliot walked out of school. The air flowing around the hem of his dress probably helped. She had suggested they stay dressed as they had in class. He secretly took delight that she was wearing his school uniform and even more so that his boxer briefs were rubbing across her butt and vagina.
“As I was saying, I studied Method Acting at the Actors’ Studio in NY. That is where I was introduced to the concept” Elizabeth said.
Brad was hanging onto her every word “That is so cool. I would love to visit NY City someday. So you think we should try Method Acting for this project”
“I do. You certainly have the talent to pull this off” she said flattering him. “Besides, this will be a great way for me to brush up on my own dormant acting skills”
Elizabeth had guided the two to her Black sedan in the parking lot. About 5 feet away she stopped. Brad hesitated next to her “Isn’t this your car?”
“You have the keys” she said quietly.
“Oh right!” Brad said as he reached into the purse hanging from his right shoulder. He handed the ring of keys to her but she made no movement to take it.
“Why don’t you drive us?” she asked
“I can’t. I don’t have my Driver’s license yet” Brad exclaimed.
“It’s not a far drive to my house. You also look more like the picture on the license in your purse than I do right now. Besides, I bet you’re just chomping at the bit to begin driving. I’ll be right next to you to make sure everything is fine” she said soothingly.
Brad was due to get his Driver’s permit next year and he was very eager to begin driving. He considered it almost a rite of passage to adulthood.
“Alright then” he said trying to quell his nervousness.
*****
The drive over to the Eliot house was entirely uneventful. Brad felt a huge sense of accomplishment ‘Wait till Britney hears about this’ he thought.
Elizabeth gave him a brief tour of her home sprinkling in amusing anecdotes about her life. He was so infatuated with being alone with her that he didn’t even think it odd that Elizabeth and he had not swapped clothes back yet.
Once they reached the kitchen she asked “Can I offer you something to drink? I have Coffee, Tea, Soda, Fruit Juice or just some water.” She was keenly interested in what he would choose.
“Do you have a Coke?” he asked. ‘Good to know!’ she thought as she uncharacteristically grabbed a can for herself and Brad.
She gave him his soda and the two sat at the kitchen table.
“Do you recall in class when we discussed the book by Larry Moss on the Acting Method?” Brad indicated that he had.
“What were the three things he said an actor needed to find the truth in their performance?” she continued.
Brad thought for a moment “The things were objectives, obstacles, and intentions”
“Very good!” Brad beamed at her compliment “The Objective is what a character needs to fulfill in a given scene. The Obstacle is what stands in the way of the character's objectives. Lastly, the Intention is the actions a character takes to overcoming obstacles and achieving objectives.”
She took a sip of her own Coke “So how would you characterize these three things for us?”
She noted approvingly that Brad was sitting with his legs crossed at the knee with one heel dangling back and forth “The first two are easy. The Objective is for each of us to as flawlessly as possible act like the other. The Obstacle is that we are of different ages and genders. The Intention I guess is what effort we put into this project”
“That about sums it up. To address the Intention, I propose we spend as much time with our clothes swapped as we can. Both in and out of school. We also spend time learning about each other’s lives. Both here and at your house. I suppose we will need some help from your twin sister at some point”
She paused to look deeply into his eyes “So now that you know what will be involved, do you want to try the Acting Method with me?”
Brad said… indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
