Just like in the anime, Shirley is always on the outside looking in when it comes to a Writing.com story with Lelouch. All these stories about Milly, Kallen, and even Nina but never her own opportunity for some fun. Well let us remedy that right now
Lelouch was among a group of his classmates standing in front of a large building with tall Grecian columns. With a scowl on his face, his eyes moved from left to right reading a banner draped across the entrance.
“Prince Clovis Memorial Art Museum”
Lelouch grimaced in disgust. He knew very well that Clovis had never been a patron of the Arts.
‘They renamed this museum for him? Just a ploy to generate sympathy for that despicable piece of excrement’ he thought bitterly.
The banner forcibly reminding him of his not so dearly departed half-brother Clovis was only partly the reason for Lelouch’s foul mood. This week was going to be another of those themed events that the Ashford Academy was so fond of putting on. The next 5 days were planned to celebrate “Art Week.” Lelouch had a strong suspicion that he was going to be required to submit some form of Artwork for a class assignment. Since his own artistic skills had not progressed much beyond basic finger painting, he was not looking forward to the inevitable teasing from his classmates.
After a guided tour of some marble sculptures, the class was summoned into an empty room with a large square wooden dais. There they found the Academy’s Art teacher, Professor Verdi moving about setting up that afternoon’s exercise.
“Come in come in children” he rapidly clapped his hands. With his dark hair slicked back, a well groomed goatee, Black cotton turtleneck and White pants he might in another reality be called a ‘hipster’
As the students gathered around him he excitedly rubbed his hands together. “Today you will be doing a charcoal etching.” Lelouch felt his stomach churn nervously. His fears had been correct.
Professor Verdi continued with the briefing “I will need two volunteers to be the subjects of the etching. Firstly, which of you boys will help the class?”
Seeing an opportunity to avoid the embarrassment of trying to draw someone, Lelouch instantly raised his hand.
“Very good Mister Lamperouge. As an example of the contrast of the human body, I would like one of you girls to join him.”
Whether it was their own chance to skip out on the the assignment or a chance to be close to Lelouch, a dozen hands quickly went up. Professor Verdi appraised the group with a slight smile “I believe Miss Fenette was the first to volunteer. If you two will join me on the dais we can get started.” Shirley allowed herself a triumphant smile as she glanced at her friends.

The Professor stroked his beard in contemplation “What pose would you two like to use for your classmates?”
Lelouch had already begun to put some thought into it. He was well aware that he was no paragon of male anatomy. But Lelouch had an idea that appealed to what he knew was his true strength, his keen analytical mind.
“I was thinking I could pose like Rodin’s Thinker”
Professor Verdi nodded his head “Good. An excellent choice. Do you have a suggestion for yourself Miss Fenette?”
Shirley subconsciously tucked a lock of her Orange tinted Reddish colored hair behind her right ear “I was thinking I could pose like one of those statues we saw today. It was a goddess I believe”
Professor Verdi got a far away look in his eyes “Hmmm” he mumbled. After a few moments he waved his hand decisively
“I have a slight modification of your ideas. You will switch the poses that you suggested . Yes! This will be do nicely. What an excellent way to inspire the class to put their own interpretation of the duality of human gender into their work”
Lelouch glanced at Shirley. He was unsure what she thought about Professor Verdi’s idea but he didn’t like it very much. With a shrug he decided it was still way better than trying to do an etching.

Their classmates were initially amused by the poses the two adopted. Shirley began with an elbow on each knee and her hands folded together under her chin. With her wide eyes and innocent smile she hardly seemed to be ‘deep in thought’ associated with the Rodin sculpture. Professor Verdi made some adjustments to her posture then whispered in her ear
“You may want to act like your classmate Lelouch. He always looks like he is planning something.” With this guidance Shirley put a serious look on face, her eyes looking as if she could bore a hole though the far wall.
Lelouch was at a bit of a loss on how to pose but the Professor soon had him in position. He forced himself to ignore the snickers of the class instead spending the time mentally reviewing all the moves from some recent chess matches.

It was no surprise that the student most amused by all this was Milly Ashford. Almost without conscious thought she began to sketch out her own artistic impression of Lelouch. Instead of pants she subbed in the regulation Black skirt that all Ashford girls wore. Her charcoal pencil worked furiously as she darkened in some knee high socks and Mary Jane shoes. She even gave his hair a few long curled locks that framed the side of his face.
Next she focused on drawing Shirley. At first she merely drew the outline of the Yellow jacket but she intentionally made her shoulders a bit broader. She then sketched in some pants and was filling in the outlines with her pencil when Professor Verdi appeared over her shoulder
“Very interesting Miss Ashford. I like how you are blending their gender associated clothing.” After the Professor moved on to another student, Milly’s began her own version of the ‘Thinker’. If Lelouch saw this he would have been worried. Milly’s schemes usually didn’t turn out very well for him.

Professor Verdi clapped his hands “Time for a break. Espressos or Capucccinos my treat in the Cafe”
As the students began to file out, Milly approached him with her trademark grin “Professor I have an idea for tomorrow’s Art week project”
