Clawhauser let out a heavy sigh. Then he spoke, "I have a physical coming up and I'd I fail, I could lose my job. Do you have anything that could help me lose weight?"
Stephanie smiled and said, "I think I've got something that fits the bill."
She reached under the counter and pulled out a small bag. She reached her hand in and pulled out a necklace with a coin on it. Her smile faded.
"The more you wear this necklace," she said. "The less you'll weigh."
Clawhauser looked puzzled.
"Are you sure that'll help me lose weight?" he asked.
Stephanie didn't answer.
"Try wearing it to bed," she finally said. "You'll be in for a big surprise in the morning. This'll cost you $10."
Clawhauser dug into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and produced a ten-dollar bill. He laid it on the counter and Stephanie placed the necklace in a red box.
That night, in his apartment, Clawhauser got ready for bed. His pajamas always consisted of the same clothes: gray sweatpants and a blue sleeveless shirt that was too small for him. He looked at the necklace and kissed it.
"I sure hope you do me a huge favor, little buddy," he said to the necklace before putting on and going to sleep.
The next morning, when Clawhauser woke up, he started to rub eyes when he got a glimpse of his hands. They looked less pudgier than the night before! He rushed up the bathroom and looked in the mirror. His cheeks were less chubbier, his arms were less flabbier, and his pants.were too big for him. As they slid down, he pulled them up and started to tighten them.
"Incredible!" He exclaimed. "It really does work!"
He lifted up his shirt and what was once a big, fat belly was a small, thin belly. Then he turned his eyes to the corner where a dusty scale sat. He walked up to it, picked it up, and blew the dust off of it. He then put it down and stepped on it. Looking down at it, he saw it go up until it said he weighed...
