The next afternoon found Kitty, Jean, Rogue, Amara and Tabitha lazing around and snacking in Kitty's room. Kitty was sitting on her bed, eating a large tray of cookies, which was perched on her belly. Tabitha was sitting on the floor with Amara as they both inhaled a large bag of jelly beans, one for each of them. Jean, meanwhile, was enjoying a big bucket of fried chicken as she sat in Kitty's desk chair.
Rogue was sitting in a spare chair and grazing on a platter of cupcakes. "Like, I totally never knew being fat and lazy would be so cool." Kitty smiled as she popped another sugar cookie into her mouth, burping after she swallowed. "I know. If I'd known it was this much fun, I'd've signed up for being a fat and gluttonous girl years ago." Jean smiled as she then tore a massive chunk of meat off her latest drumstick.
At that moment, Girls, please report to my office at once. I may have a lead on who is behind your fattening. Xavier told them telepathically. Hearing this, the five obese girls managed to heave themselves up and head for Xavier's office. Soon, they had reached said room. "Like, who is it, Professor? Who's been totally making us fat?" Kitty asked.
"Emma Frost." Xavier said. "We should've known." Jean sighed as Kitty and Rogue both nodded. "Who's this Emma chick?" Tabitha asked. "Emma Frost. She runs the Massachusetts Academy. She's a telepath like the Professor but she's a villain. She also has her own group of students called the Hellions." Jean explained. "Hellions?" Amara asked.
"Yeah. It's because the school's, like, totally ran by this sleazy group of wealthy people called the Hellfire Club." Kitty explained now. "But why would she wanna make us obese?" Tabitha asked as she eyed her gut. "This is most likely her revenge for us beating the Hellions a month ago." Rogue realized. "Okay, you three were there, so I understand that. But why are 'Mara and me becoming fat? We weren't there when the fight went down." Tabitha remarked.
"It must be because, out of all the New Mutants, you two hang out with the three of us the most." Kitty suggested. "Well, what're we waitin' for? Let's go nail Frost!" Rogue said. "Wait, girls. I think it would be wiser for you to wait until Scott and the others finished their training session. It would be better if you went with backup." Xavier told them.
"No way, Professor. Normally, I'd agree with you, but right now, I really wanna nail Emma for making us obese." Jean said as she, Kitty, Rogue, Amara and Tabitha set off. "So, like, should we totally change into our costumes?" Kitty asked. "No. Partly because they already know our identities and also because I'm not sure they'd take our new sizes so well." Jean decided as they boarded the X-Van.
Soon, the X-Van arrived in Massachusetts. The trip had taken a bit longer than anticipated due to the girls needing to make frequent snack stops, as evidenced by the array of empty wrappers, boxes, cups and other rubbish littering the floor and the trash can in the van. "Good thing the X-Van had a full tank of gas." Jean remarked as they parked it near the large Massachusetts Academy.
"I don't like this, Jean. Like, what if they're totally waiting for us?" Kitty asked nervously. "Then, we'd better be ready." Jean replied as they approached the building. Without a word, Kitty took hold of Jean and Rogue's shoulders while Tabitha and Amara took hold of said duo's hands. Taking a deep breath, Kitty then phased the five of them into the building, waiting for an alarm or something to go off.
But it didn't. "Hey. Maybe they ain't expecting us." Rogue smiled. But then, the lights flicked on, briefly blinding the five. "Like, you were totally saying, Rogue?" Kitty retorted with a teasing smirk. At that moment, Firestar, Warpath, Jetstream, Catseye, Roulette and Empath arrived. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here." Empath smirked.
"Yeah. Looks like we got us a group of butterballs!" giggled Roulette evilly. "Like, we're not butterballs! We're just, like, totally plus sized!" Kitty retorted, her gut jiggling as she put her hands on her hippo hips, causing all but Firestar and Warpath to laugh. "Nice try, Kitty." Jean said gently. Then, she turned to the six Hellions. "We're here to see Emma." She said.
"We know. Who do you tubbos think sent us to stop you?" Empath smirked. "I'd like to see you punks try, meatball!" Tabitha snarled as she prepared two energy bombs in each hand. With that, both groups charged at each other. Jean went for Empath and the duo began sparring. Try as she might, Jean couldn't land a blow on the slimmer and quicker Hellion, who managed to land several blows on her bloated body.
Finally, with an uppercut to her double chin, Empath floored the plus sized X-Kid on her back. "Jean!" Rogue shouted as she sparred Warpath, foolishly taking her eyes off him for just a second. Seeing this, Warpath tried to stop his blow, but it was too late and he clocked the obese goth X-Kid across the back of her head, knocking her out too.
"Rogue!" Kitty shouted, only to be clobbered by Catseye, knocking her down and out as well. "Kitty!" Tabitha shouted as she threw an energy bomb at Firestar, only to miss and take out both Jetstream and Magma, who'd been fighting Angelica. "'Mara!" She shouted as she watched her friend crumple, returning to her normal appearance after hitting the ground.
With a quick kick to her head, Roulette knocked Tabitha out too. "Well, that was easy." smirked Empath as he and the others began rolling the knocked out and helpless Kitty, Jean, Rogue, Amara and Tabitha to a different area of the school.
