Lincoln opened his eyes recovering from the dizziness he felt when that beam hit him. He then stood up and shook his head to clear his vision. But then he looked around and noticed that something was definitely off about where he was. Everything looked so much bigger than he remembered. "What the?!" Lincoln said in shock until-
STOMP!
He felt something big hit the ground in front of him and fell on his back. It appeared to be a giant white shoe that stepped right in front of him. He then started looking up and was even more shocked to see that it looked like a bigger version of Darcy towering above him.
Darcy gasped. "Ooh look, Charlotte. A cute dolly!" Darcy cheerfully said while pointing down to the miniaturized form of Lincoln at her feet. Charlotte then walked up right next to Darcy and Lincoln could see that these two little girls didn't look so little anymore from where he was standing.
Darcy then reached down to pick Lincoln up. Lincoln tried to run but Darcy was too fast and wrapped Lincoln in her little fingers with only his head sticking out from the top of her closed fist. She lifted him up to her head where her smiling face took up his entire field of vision, as did Charlotte's.
"It's so cute!" Darcy said trying to tickle Lincoln's head with her finger. "Let's play with it, Charlotte!"
"Yeah! What do we do first?" Charlotte asked. But then Lisa looked at what Darcy was holding and realized that it was her shrunken older brother. Her eyes widened in shock as she knew she had to get him away from them before Lincoln got hurt. After all, she knows how some kids like to play rough with their toys.
"Wait, you two!" Lisa said getting their attention. "You really shouldn't play with that. Because..." Lisa pondered what to tell them. She was worried that if she told them it was her brother who had been shrunken by her machine, then her friends might not believe her, or worse, if they do believe her, they might think she's just crazy and not want to hang out with her anymore.
"Why can't we play with it, Lisa?" Darcy asked. Lisa was still nervous but then she saw Lincoln in Darcy's hand and worried for his safety. What could she do? Tell them and risk losing their friendship or not tell them and risk Lincoln's safety?
"Oh. Is it your doll, Lisa?" Darcy asked again. "I'm sorry. We won't play with your toys unless it's okay with you." Darcy handed Lincoln back to Lisa, much to Lincoln's relief. Lisa held the tiny Lincoln up in her hands and then looked at her friends with a small smile.
"Look you guys. I greatly apologize for keeping you waiting for me. If you wouldn't mind just waiting out the door for me for a few minutes, I'll be right with you. Okay?" Lisa requested as Darcy and Charlotte reluctantly decided to wait for Lisa a little bit longer as Lisa gently closed the door so that she could talk to Lincoln.
"Lincoln, are you alright?" Lisa asked in concern for the tiny boy in her hand.
"Are you kidding me, Lisa?! I'm only 3 inches tall, what do you think?!" Lincoln angrily replied. "You've gotta get me back to normal size."
"I would elder brother, but, my shrink ray needs some time time to recharge itself."
"What?!" Lincoln was not happy with her response. "You mean, I'm stuck like this?!"
Lisa sadly nodded. "I'm sorry, Lincoln. I didn't mean for this to happen."
"Well why didn't you tell them the truth that it was me?" Lincoln asked.
"Forgive me, Lincoln. I was worried that if they knew the truth, then Darcy and Charlotte would just think I'm a weirdo and they wouldn't want to be my friends anymore."
Lincoln could see where Lisa was coming from and tried to see if he could do something about it. "Okay, Lisa. I understand why you were worried, but still, if they are your friends, then they'll still like you if you're honest with them."
"I don't know, Lincoln. I don't want them to be afraid of me." Lisa replied.
"They won't be, Lis. You sure you can't make me big again now?" Lincoln wondered.
"I can try, Lincoln. But it might take some time. Do you think you could let them play with you until then?" Lincoln was worried about what Lisa was asking since he didn't want to be treated like a play thing.
"Look Lisa, I don't know if I want to be treated like a toy and you're the one who needs to play with others. What do you say we both go up to them and you try to tell them the truth. Okay?" Lincoln said, and Lisa wondered what she should do.
1. Lisa tells them the truth.
2. The girls couldn't wait and just play with Lincoln anyway.
3. Lisa keeps Lincoln in her room while she goes to play with them.
4. All three of them play with Lincoln.
5. The ray backfires again and shrinks Lisa to Lincoln's size. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
