As much as Mrs. West loved her daughter, she could tell that Tara was quickly turning into Haley 2.0. Once a hard-working, independent, career-driven woman, her years back in Spartanburg had transformed her into an increasingly lazy, dependent, food-driven glutton, and her inglorious separation from Fish Camp had only hastened the process. Mrs. West obviously loved Haley just as much, but she recognized that letting Haley live with her for so long had likely ignited the fuse that had made her weight explode in the first place. Tara, now occupying Haley’s (previously Mrs. West’s) downstairs room and bigger than Haley had been when she’d left to live with Courtney and Gabby, seemed to be just as out of control as her sister these days, and her mom thought that maybe getting her back into the workforce would do her some good.
Mrs. West had taken Haley’s (possibly sarcastic) advice and called Hannah to see if she’d consider giving Tara a position in Yeng’s ranks. She had a decent resume, after all; whatever Haley could do, Tara could obviously do better, right?
Unfortunately, there weren’t any positions available, but Hannah had agreed to meet with Tara in person just to give her a fair shake. During their meeting, with Tara attempting to seem interested even as she gobbled up her mid-day snack, Hannah mentioned that there just might be a position for someone like Tara after all…
Yeng had learned a lot from Haley’s and Dani’s feedback, from their initial observations to their continued updates on what was and wasn’t sizable enough for the two ballooning tenants. However, two Yeng employees were a very small sample size, and there was an extra house of similar dimensions that could be utilized to expand their Goldfish Home experiment to include non-Yeng-affiliated individuals. Tara was, at her size, certainly an optimal candidate.
Haley was, obviously, completely against the idea of living with her sister, but Dani was more than happy to upgrade from one West sister to another. She’d never particularly loved Tara, but she was at least a bit above neutral in her opinion of her. Which was a lot more than can be said with Haley.
That just left one spot open that needed to be filled, and Haley had the perfect big-boobed bestie in mind. As much of a bad influence Haley had been, her leaving Courtney and Gabby behind had not slowed Courtney’s expansion in the slightest, and one short interview later, Hannah officially signed off on Courtney as Haley’s new housemate.
With new dynamics in place, the social temperature certainly warmed as Haley and Dani no longer sniped at each other every chance they got, since, despite being next-door neighbors, neither had any interest (or ability) to visit the other. Haley and Courtney obviously got along like two peas in a pod, and Tara was, for the time being, a much better housemate for Dani than Haley ever was.
Months passed by in a blur, as Tara and Courtney grew used to (and into) their new digs, the four of them continued to push their houses to the breaking point.
