It had been awhile since Sonic, Cream and friends had returned to their world.Tails had been tasked with caring for young Cream for a short while. One day in Tails's lab she was exploring, trying to stay out of the way when the young rabbit girl found a curious device on a table.
She grabbed a step stool and climbed up it. It was a weird small space gun looking device mounted to some form of stand but looked adjustable. Then she spotted a label on it and read it aloud. “Size-Alter-A-Tron v2.” Cream noticed 2 buttons and 2 switches.
“Fire” and “stop” buttons.
“Reduce” and “Grow” switches and the other switch she didn’t look at.
Had she looked she would have noticed 3 positions.
“Single dose”
“Standard Recurring”
“Recurring EX”
Currently it was on “recurring EX.”
“Oh my is this thing really a growth ray? Oh Cheese, now I can finally be big enough to care for myself!“ Cream adjusted the gun barrel to face her tummy and flipped the switch from “reduce” to “grow,” unknowingly leaving the “Recurring EX” setting on. Hoping it worked the young bunny child pressed the "fire" button.
A yellow beam shot out and enveloped Cream. It felt warm, tickly and weird. A few minutes later Cream pressed stop and it shut off. “That should be good. Let’s check how it worked.” Cream hopped down and looked herself over, disappointed in the results. “Aww that thing didn’t change anything about me at all! Sometimes I feel like I’ll be little forever Cheese.”
Little did she know she was 2 inches taller than 5 minutes ago and that she would soon be having more growth spurts than she had bargained for over the next few days.
Suddenly Tails came over. “Oh good Cream you found my failed Size Ray. The silly thing shrinks stuff temporarily but I never could get it to grow anything ever, temporarily or otherwise! Nor could I ever extend the shrinking time span above 30 minutes. This thing is useless so I was going to sell it for scrap.”
Cream was considering admitting to using it on herself but as Tails had already loaded it onto a cart of junk and left, and as Cream felt no different, she opted not to come clean. A short time later the junk was hauled away, size device and all.
Cream had suddenly felt dizzy, lightheaded and a weird, brief sense of vertigo and a tingle all over. But she played it off as the feeling lasted less than 20 seconds.
She was unaware of having grown 4 more inches, now being 6 inches taller than the little girl left in Tails’s care. Her mom came to collect her and felt something was off with her little girl but dismissed it. Vanilla took her literal growing little girl home, with no one aware of Cream’s predicament. First she grew 2 inches, then 4 for a total of 6. But now if anyone had known Cream had turned herself into a form of ticking time bomb, precautions could have been taken.
Now the sole means of stopping Cream’s spurts was on its way to being incinerated and no one knew except Cream and Cheese, who were equally as oblivious to the little rabbit’s unplanned uprising as the rest of the cosmos.
