Alexis's Hand: Hollowed Life Barrier, Mind On Air, The Warrior Returning Alive, Scapegoat, Prima Light.
"I don't have any monsters I can summon yet. But I can build up my defense for next turn." Alexis strategized mentally before putting her plan to action. "I place 1 card face-down! Then I activate the Spell Card, Scapegoat! This allows me to summon up to 4 Sheep Tokens in Defense Mode!" she stated as 4 tiny multicolored sheep appeared on the field.
Sheep Token x4 DEF: 0000
"I end my turn!" she said ready for anything her opponent could throw at her.
Pierre chuckled softly at her passive move "You're only delaying your pain mon cheri, and not even for that long." he said with renewed confidence. "Now then, mon tour!" he called out as he made his draw. "First, I pay another 500 points to maintain my Fairy Box!"
Pierre LP: 2500-2000
"Then I summon Sand Gambler in Attack Mode!" he stated as a man he bore a striking resemblance to was summoned to the field. His hands in his pockets as he stood confidently alongside his fellow gambling monsters.
Sand Gambler ATK: 300
"And now I activate my Gambler's special ability! With it I flip my coin, and if it comes up Heads 3 times in a row, then all of your monsters are immediately destroyed! However, if it comes up Tails 3 times, then my monster bid you a swift Au revoir!"
"Heads 3 times in a row? There's now way." Jaden said skeptically.
"It can happen Jay." Syrus said with a hint of worry "It's very unlikely, but it can."
"Now then, let's see if lady luck is on your side or mine, mon cheri." Pierre said as he flipped his coin. He caught it, but it came up Tails. "No matter, I'll just use my Second Coin Toss to start over." he said as he flipped again, this time it came up Heads. "That's 1." Another flip of the coin, another Heads. "That's 2." Pierre gave the handkerchief in his pocket a kiss for extra luck before he made his next flip, and much to everybody's shock it came up Heads. "And 3rd times the charm!" the gambler cheered as it seemed lady luck sided with him once again.
Alexis gave her opponent a steely glare as her Sheep Tokens blew up one by one due to Sand Gambler's effect, leaving her seemingly defenseless.
"And now mon cheri, you're mine!"
"I don't think so!" Alexis countered "I activate Hollowed Life Barrier! Now by discarding 1 card in my Hand to the Graveyard, all damage I would take for the rest of this turn is reduced to zero!" she explained as she sent Mind On Air to her Graveyard to use her Trap's effect.
"Tsk, lucky move." Pierre said annoyed "But it will be all for not."
"We'll see about that!" Alexis said confidently as she made her draw.
Alexis's Hand: The Warrior Returning Alive, Prima Light, Cyber Prima.
With the cards she had in her Hand, Alexis knew that this duel was hers. "I tried to be your friend Pierre. I tried to teach you the game I love. But you just used it to take for your own gain. And now, you're about to get a lesson that's long over due!" she said in her mind as she prepared to make the final move. "I play the Spell Card, The Warrior Returning Alive! This allows me to add 1 Warrior-Type monster from my Graveyard to my Hand! So bring back Cyber Tutu, and summon her to the field!" she stated as her perky ballerina was brought back to help finish the fight.
Cyber Tutu ATK: 1000
"Next I play the Spell Card, Prima Light! This allows me to sacrifice Cyber Tutu in order to special summon from Hand, Cyber Prima!" she explained as Tutu was replaced by a new, more powerful ballerina. She had long silver hair, wore a mostly grey leotard with electron orbits around her waist and masquerade mask.
Cyber Prima ATK: 2300
"And when Cyber Prima is summoned, her special ability destroys every Spell Card on the field!"
The powerful dancer shined like a star for a brief moment as her effect kick in and destroyed Pierre's Second Coin Toss, much to the gambler's dismay.
"And since your Sand Gambler, who has only 300 ATK, is in Attack Mode, if my Prima attacks him, then it will be my turn to say au revior." she stated with a confident smile.
"Excuser moi! I still have my Fair Box!" Pierre reminded with increasing worry "If I guess my coin toss one more time, then you do no damage!"
"It all comes do to this one flip of a coin. After all, your Second Coin Toss is gone." Alexis reminded, enjoying the panic she saw in her opponents eyes. "I was wondering why you didn't use your second Angel Bunny's coin flip effect 2 turns ago, but now I get it. You couldn't risk it, since you Second Coin Toss only works once per turn. If fact, if it wasn't for your Second Coin Toss, you would've lost every time!"
"Tais-toi!" Pierre shouted 'shut up' in french.
"Face it Pierre, you're not a winner. You're not even a gambler. You're just a coward who couldn't accept defeat." the Obelisk beauty stated with ironclad resolve.
The cowardly young man was silent as he knew no matter how much he wanted to deny it, he knew she was right.
"Now Cyber Prima, attack his Gambler!"
Pierre quickly tossed his coin in the air and caught it. "Tails! Please!" he prayed desperately. But his prayer went unanswered as it was revealed to be Heads.
"Sorry, but play too much, and the house will win." Alexis said before giving her final order "Now finish him off!"
Cyber Prima attacked swiftly, and decisively. Reducing Sand Gambler to dust and Pierre's Life Points to zero.
Pierre LP: 2000-0
The crowd cheered for Alexis's well earned victory, and her friends celebrated with high fives all around.
"Nice job Lex!" Jaden shouted with glee.
"Way to play!" Syrus cheered with a fist pump.
"That was licious!" Chumley added in support.
"The winner of the first match, Alexis Rhodes!" Shepard declared over the mic.
"I don't care! You just got lucky!" Pierre shouted feeling very bitter about his defeat.
"Pierre, I beat you because I don't believe in luck. I work hard, and I play even harder. Luck is a losers excuse." Alexis stated as she walked up to him with royal swagger. "Now, I believe we had a deal."
The defeated gambler looked up at his old classmate, and was humbled by her confidence and starstruck by her beauty. "Oui, we did." he said softly as he pulled out the handkerchief from his pocket, and returned it as agreed. "And I'm sorry mon cheri. You see, I know how pathetic this might sound, but the only reason I agreed to duel you today, was because I love you. And I hoped that if I beat you, that you would fall in love with me Alexis."
Everybody was shock at hearing this confession, especially Alexis herself. Some people in the crowd even thought it was genuinely romantic. But everyone else could agree that it was pretty pathetic.
"But, I can see that your heart already belongs to another man. I may not know who he is, but I can safely say he is one lucky man."
"What are you talking about? I'm not in love with someone!" the confused young woman denied, with a cute blush.
"Trust me, mon cheri. I am french, we know about these things. And now, I bid you adieu." Pierre said with a respectful nod as he left the stadium to parts unknown.
Alexis was left in a bit of a confused stupor as she joined her friends on the sidelines, her thoughts all over the place as she tried to make sense out of what her opponent had just told her.
"Are you okay there Alexis?" Syrus asked with concern.
For reasons she couldn't understand, Alexis felt her heart pound hard in her chest and her face turn hot with a blush at the sight of Syrus's cute face looking at her with genuine concern. "What's going on? Why is my heart pounding so much?" she thought with increasing confusion.
"Will Chumley and Mark Huffington please step into the ring so we can begin Round 2!" Shepard requested over the mic.
The announcement shook Alexis out of her confusion for a moment as she wished her heavy weight friend good luck in his duel.
"Alexis?" Syrus asked again since she didn't answer him.
The pounding in her heart returned, but this time she was able to answer. "I'm fine Syrus, don't worry." she said with a reassuring smile.
"Okay." the short Duelists said not very convinced, but leaving it be for now. After all, Chumley was about to throw down with his own father. This was promising to be intense match, and he didn't want to miss it.
