Okay, things were just about perfect for this lesson, which was way better than he had initially expected things to go, but Peter wasn’t one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Right now, Peter had all the chemicals he needed to do the demonstration for what a hero should do when they're ever shrunken and need help; all he needed now was for his students to be here. It was a bit weird calling teens barely younger than him his students, but he did promise Xavier to teach a class with his vast experience as a hero. It was then that his arm nudged the vials and spilled them all over him that caused this to go out the window.
Peter’s eyes widened as the chemicals soaked into his skin, “Oh sh–!” See, Peter had designed the demonstration in a way that would cause the shrinking to happen at a slow pace, but with the chemicals mixing together out of any semblance of order, he ended up shrinking in an instant. He had thought he’d be prepared to be shrunken down, since that was the initial plan, but it was certainly different when it was out of his control.
‘Of all the times for this to happen,’ Peter thought to himself in dismay from where he stood on the top of his desk. ‘Professor Xavier had told me my class would be starting around now, which means I don’t even have a chance to figure out a way to revert to my normal size before they start showing up!’

“Speak of the devil,” Peter muttered as he watched the door to his class swing open, revealing his students. The professor had told him that the class was going to be small due to the nature of the experiments, which in Peter’s mind made sense in the beginning, but seeing exactly who those students were made his stomach clench. He knew that he was going to be teaching students who were really close to his age, but having Kitty, Laura, and Hisako walk in chatting together, and then followed closely behind by Bobby, Roberto, and Piotr, made it really hit home.
Comparing himself to the items on his desk, Peter estimated that he had to be around an inch tall at the very most, maybe even smaller. So as his students walked in, it was as if he was seeing massive giants moving in towards him, each of their steps could be heard like approaching thunder. He watched helplessly as they all sat down in their various seats. Unlike the usual comfortable living room-style classrooms around the large mansion, Peter’s class was one of the few that had been designed for lab sciences. As such, the seats were more along the lines of normal school desks that would be found in a lab.
“Can you believe it! Peters’s going to be one of our teachers,” Hisako said with an excited tone as she sat down with Kitty and Laura.
“I know,” Kitty said in a slightly dreamy voice, “He’s so hot normally; just imagine how much more he’ll be as he’s teaching us.” Peter flushed at the comment at the sight of the other two nodding in agreement, seeing the dreamy looks in the giant faces from here.
“Ha,” Bobby said, overhearing the girls as the guys also sat down as well. “Well, they’re not wrong, per se,” he said with a shrug of his shoulders to the amusement of Roberto and slight embarrassment of Piotr. “Though I think that learning from someone closer to our own age will certainly be something else, and Peter really does know what he’s doing from what we’ve seen.”
“Da, I concur,” Piotr said with a small nod, “Piotr is very, very clever.”
“Though not very punctual or tidy,” Roberto said with a laugh, he said having noticed the mess on Peter’s desk and the lack of a teacher. “Guess he’s closer to our age in mannerisms as well,” he said, causing Peter’s tiny brow to twitch in slight irritation at the callout. It wasn’t his fault that the chemicals had spilled…His face started to go a bit red. ‘Well, it was, but they don’t have to know that,’ he thought in embarrassment.
Peter wasn’t sure what he should do. He had the option of trying to get help from his students, which in itself would be embarrassing enough as he is their teacher, not counting the fact that he isn’t much older than them, so it would be even worse. The other option would be that he would try to avoid their attention and wait until they decided they had enough of waiting until he “got there.”
He peeked around one of the knocked-over beakers at his students, taking in the sight of the six teenagers. ‘I usually wouldn’t have any trouble with them.’ he thought silently, ‘but with how they are talking, I’m not entirely sure how they would react to my situation.’ In a way, it might be better to wait and see if he can get help from someone else.
What does Peter decide to do?
1) Peter decides it’s probably best to wait his students out and try and figure out a way to get help from one of the other teachers or even one of the spare X-Men that occasionally wander around the school. No need to involve teenagers in his mess.
2) Before Peter has a chance to think more on what he should do, Laura’s senses catch up to him and allow her to find him. As he is lifted off the desk for his students to see, he is slightly nervous as to what they may have planned for him. He can only hope that they will just bring him to another teacher, but knowing that they are teenagers... and with how close they are in age... he isn’t holding his breath.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
