It was a tiring journey. Nami would have never been able to walk such s steep curve on her own. But Zoro wasn't too exhausted. He only felt a little tired. This was the peak that nami had selected. She was sure it would be here. And Zoro did really trust her on that.
He untied her shoes from the string, it was still smelly. But he was indeed a little used to it by now. He still found it unpleasant though. Nami's foot sweat had soaked in his palm, drenching it. Nami's feet's color was lot more even now. She felt so relaxed, if her hunch was right, she was about to get this treasure while doing no physical work at all. Instead, she got a nice long massage soothing her feet.
"There's no need Zoro, we may have to travel again soon. But I love your concern, my pet. But just keep thoes shoes around your neck for now~", she ruffled his hair getting off when zoro leaned forward more. "Start digging".
Of course, Zoro knew she was not going to help. Not like she would have been much help anyway, it seems nobody else was nearby. It was an empty patch in this otherwise dense forest. There was no tree within a 50 meter radius. Very few people knew that such empty patches exist in this forest. But nami had bought this very old map from a shop. This was the largest such patch. She had sent the other crewmembers to the 4 others patches, provided they can follow the maps she drew for each of them.
She had zoro dig right in the center, just another hunch from her. And she was right! After a few minutes of digging they really found it!
Even Zoro was excited. Their team unexpectedly worked out rather well. Zoro had disposed of the creatures of the forest who attacked them on the way with ease, while still having nami on his shoulders. And nami never even once lost the way. He handed the box to Nami. This was her idea, she deserved to open it first.
Nami's eyes lit up in excitement for money, as they always do. She opened the treasure box, it was huge. But nearly empty. Zoro's expression changed from excitement to disappointment.
Nami chuckled patting his head. "Don't worry my idiot slave, this one shard we have found is a rare philosopher stone. It was believed to be lost to time, but here we are. We could sell it for at least 10 billion berries. And this devil fruit, this will be very useful for us~", she added with a smile.
Zoro was impressed by her knowledge and intelligence. He was feeling a lot better about having to serve her now. But even this 10 billion is not enough to repay her debt now. Who knows how many zillion that debt had become because of interest. He just wished he had found this earlier, but then again, he wasn't feeling too bad about serving her anymore.
He got down on his knees and leaned forward. Nami put the shard in her bra safely and put the devil fruit in zoro's pocket. She climbed on his shoulders and pulled his hair forward, signalling him to start walking. She happily informed everyone else that they had found the treasure!
The descent was much faster than the ascent. They regrouped with the others in no time outside the forest. Nami still wasn't getting off his shoulder. But in the way down, she had Zoro put on her shoes. She didn't want the others asking too many questions.
"Are you ok, Nami?",Luffy asks worried.
"It's nothing, luffy. Just a minor sprain on my ankle. Zoro is going to carry me to the ship as a payment for showing him the way", she chuckled making zoro feel a little embarrassed.
"Moss head! You let Nami Swaan get injured. How dare you!",Sanji came in full of jealousy and concern.
"Shut up idiot cook! It was not my fault!",Zoro shot back at him as usual.
Nami chuckled feeling amused while they continued to walk towards the ship.
Chopper offered to fix her ankle but Nami didn't let him. "Don't worry chopper kun. It's just a minor sprain, I already applied the paste you gave me. I just don't want to move it too much. Besides, Zoro is happy to carry me to celebrate our success. Aren't you, Zoro?"
"Yes. I am",Zoro said in a dismissive tone. He indeed was, but he didn't want to express it too much.
"Of course you are! You moss head",Sanji was still jealous.
Everyone just laughed it off.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
