A husband's lust: When Howard joked about his wife's breasts getting bigger during pregnancy, as an indicator that he'd still find his wife sexy during her pregnancy, he had believed it to be a joke; he didn't think he was lying, but he hadn't expected his baby swollen wife to be as appealing as the skinny version.
He definitely didn't expect that, as Bernadette grew ever larger Howard found her body all the more appealing, he hadn't realized the dread of her impending due date was because of anything beyond new father nerves, and he definitely hadn't expected that once Bernadette wasn't pregnant he'd find himself less attracted to her. Every time he looked at his wife his one thought was a desire to see her gravid form again.
Now obviously he could just get Bernie pregnant again but that was very much a short term solution; 9 months later they'd be back where they started, plus they were already unsure how to afford their current baby, let alone another... or more. And even if they could, even if he could have Bernadette just pumping one baby out after another, she only had so many child bearing years before that had to end.
However, from his years as a pervert before Bernadette, Howard had heard of ways a woman could simulate Pregnancy permanently, which could be the answer to his prayers. The only questions? Would he consult Bernadette first. what would she say if he did, if she refused, would that stop him and if he didn't talk to Bernadette, will he ever admit his role in her transformation?
Unexpected Appreciation: When giving reasons she didn't want to have children one reason was a belief that it would ruin her body, and even when she found herself pregnant, she feared how this will affect her body.
To her surprise however, she wasn't disgusted by the way her body changed, spending a fair amount of time posing in front of a mirror in a bra and panties, and when her daughter was born, Bernadette found herself missing her big pregnant belly.
Like Howard in the above suggestion Bernadette understood the unfeasibility of getting pregnant again and again, so she had to look at other ways to give her her belly back.
Please Note: Just because option one has Howard spearheading Bernadette's PFP and option 2 had Bernadette doesn't mean the other can't be on board.
