It had been four weeks since a new disease started to spread in New York City, where hundreds of men shrunk to the size of insects at seemingly random times. It all started when one of Barney's co-workers shrunk at Goliath National Bank after coming home from an overseas trip to the eastern regions of the Asia continent.
Scientists were hopeful that they would have been able to synthesize an antidote from his unmutated DNA. However, he was crushed accidentally by his own secretary when she sat down on top of him to field some calls, reduced to a bloodstain on her bodacious booty before she ever felt his squirms beneath her.
Now Ted Mosby has caught the disease, and with his sister, Heather Mosby, out of town, the police turned Ted over to his next closest associate, his roommate/ex-girlfriend, Robin Sherbatsky. Luckily, Robin would be safe from exposure since, for some reason, the shrinking virus only affected men.
A young blonde police officer name Ashley Davies was the one to deliver Ted back home, holding the shrunken architect under her C-cup breasts as she walked up three flights of stairs to reach Ted's apartment. Which was one of the few perks of being so tiny as Ted watched her breasts heave up and down inside her shirt, pondering the likelihood of whether or not she was currently wearing a bra.
"Anything to say before we go in?" The officer asked, looking down at Ted for the first time since she left the squad car.
"Yeah, is there any chance we could go out for a drink sometime?" Ted asked, making his move at the least opportune time.
"Nice try, but I don't date guys shorter than me." She teased, lightheartedly turning Ted down before knocking on the door.
"Wait, I'm usually a lot taller than-" Ted said, trying to salvage the situation before he was interrupted by the sound of the door opening. It was a smart move. Ashley wasn't paying him any attention, and he didn't want to flirt with a police officer in his ex-girlfriend's presence.
"Hello officer, is this about the noise complaint from earlier because I have a permit for that," Robin answered the door, wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt she'd stolen from Ted when they were dating and her underwear.
She didn't even see Ted yet, as he stood in the policewoman's palm, watching from below as they carried on with the conversation as a bystander. "Hello ma'am, I'm officer Davies. Are you Robin Sherbatsky?" She asked, almost unwilling to believe this attractive woman could be Ted's roommate without some form of romantic entanglement.
She was right, of course, but the current crisis and hand was much easier to sort out than Ted's love life. "Yes, that's me. Is there a problem?" Robin asked, becoming a little nervous for a moment.
"I'm afraid your roommate Ted caught the shrinking virus today at work. His assistant turned him over to us after she almost stepped on him, and standard procedure places you to be his guardian until they find a cure. Of course, Mr. Mosby could have prevented this by quarantining himself earlier on and working remotely." The policewoman declared, almost scolding Ted as she raised her hand to present the one-inch tall man to Robin.
The ground shook a little beneath Ted as Ashley raised her palm higher, struggling to maintain his balance as he turned his attention up towards Robin, whose expression mildly concerned Ted. "Wow, he's really tiny. He looks like a goldfish. The snack, not the pet." Robin said with a slight smile, teasing Ted and the Policewoman held her hand out.
Ted didn't care much for being compared to a snack, especially when the woman making the comparison was large enough to swallow him whole. "Haha, very funny, Nancy Archer," Ted quickly responded, showing his whits as he compared his friend to the main character in Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.
"At least I'm not smaller than Tinkerbell," Robin responded, quick to fire back with a more modern reference, forcing a giggle from the giant policewoman holding Ted, turning her palm over to dump the shrunk man into Robin's open hands.
"Take good care of his, Miss Sherbatsky. I'll be back to check on him in a few weeks. Who knows. Maybe I'll take you up on that drink offer if you grow a few inches." Ashley announced, broadcasting that Ted had asked her out as she turned to walk away with a smile.
"Haha, very funny!" Ted yelled back nervously, wishing she hadn't said anything in front of Robin, who stood there in silence watching Ashley leave.
"So, I'm your guardian now?" Robin said, breaking the silence with a question, choosing not to focus on the fact that Ted was openly flirting with another woman right in front of her and instead choosing to focus on the shrinking virus situation.
"Yeah, the police said you could do whatever you felt was necessary until they find a cure. Unfortunately, Ashley said that even making a vaccine could take weeks." Ted announced, not saying anything Robin didn't already know. As a Live TV Reporter, the shrinking virus had been a huge stepping stone in her career, with all her male co-workers either shrunk or quarantined. Of course, Ted would already know that if he watched her show.
"Interesting, anything I want?" Robin said, talking more to herself than Ted as a lightbulb went off over her head. Unfortunately, Ted was way too small to handle most of the mundane chores she had planned for him at that brief moment. She'd have to think a little smaller.
What does Robin do next?
1. Robin's feet are tired from walking back from work, and she feels that it's necessary Ted stays in shape by rubbing her feet, putting him down on the coffee table while she takes a seat on the couch. Saying he needs to earn his keep if he's not working to pay the rent.
2. Robin says that Lily was on her way over for a girl's night, and she has to finish getting ready. Dropping Ted on a couch cushion while she finishes getting dressed. However, when Lily arrives and Robin still isn't ready, she appropriates Ted as some extra cushioning, sitting on the same cushion Robin dropped Ted on.(Unaware)
3. Robin has to start getting ready for work soon, and decides it would be irrisponsible to leave Ted home all by himself. Dropping Ted down the front of her panties to help make her boring night a little more excitting.
4. Robin's Sister Katie is coming back into town and she doesn't want her to see Ted shrunk, choosing to hide him inside her bra for the duration of her stay. Will she be able to keep him a secret?
