Kepler 4 is a lush terrestrial world that had been recently colonized by humans. Its environment was harsh, with life only thriving hear the planet's few bodies of water. Under normal circumstances, such a planet could never support human life, but thanks to technology and good leadership, the planet's limited resources and nearby astroids were more than enough to support a growing colony.
The problem the colony faced was with the titanic lifeforms that populated the planet. They were humanoid in shape but were hundreds of meters tall. The males were much smaller than the females and lived in secluded habitats. The females however could grow up to 500 meters (1640 ft for freedom loving patriots), and spent most of their time wandering around the landscape. They displayed no significant sentience, nor were they overtly hostile. However their enormous size and low intelligence made them a hazard for the human colonists, with them ofter wandering into settlements and causing significant damage. This couldn't go on for much longer, so you and the rest of the colony decided on a solution...
