Argyle chuckled nervously. "Good to know." After learning everything he could from John, Argyle mated with as many females as he could, as Robert had instructed. If he were to be a meal, at least his line could continue. The day finally came for the big challenge. Robert and Argyle drove to the edge of a nearby forest. "Well, this is it." Said Robert "I hope you paid attention to what John taught you. I'll give you an hour's head start. Good luck."
Argyle nodded, and took off amongst the trees and brush. Robert closed his eyes, so as not to see which direction he went. He wanted to give Argyle a fair chance, after all. About thirty minutes had passed, and Argyle was deep within the woods, doing everything he could to try and cove his tracks. That's when he found something he hadn't expected to see, a small human girl.
"Hello." She said sweetly "Will you play with me?"
"Sorry, kid, but I don't have time for games. I'm being hunted right now, and my hunter will probably be coming this way very soon." "Are you playing hide and seek?" The girl innocently asked "In a sense, yes. But if I'm found I get eaten."
"I can help if you want." The girl said "You can come hide in my cave." "You live in a cave?" Argyle asked, confused "Where's the rest of your herd?" The girl shrugged "I was abandoned by my herd. But Mommy took me in. Come with me, you can stay with us for a while. I'm sure Mommy won't mind."
Before he could respond, the girl grabbed his hand and started to lead him towards the side of a nearby mountain, where the entrance to a cave was. "Mommy, we have a guest!" The girl called, her voice echoing. She lead Argyle inside the cave, where a fire blazed in the center of the room, illuminating a figure that made Argyle's jaw drop.
