James was sitting in a lecture listening but having difficulty following along due to a general fatigue.
“Mr. Hargrove, hello? Mr. Hargrove, can you tell the class the answer?” The lecturer asked of James with an obvious disdain for the distracted student.
“Wha… Wha? Huh? Oh. Oh. Uhh sorry professor. It was a difficult evening.” James startled back to attention but knowing nothing about the topic defaulted to an apology for his ignorance of the lecture topic.
“If we are here in person, let’s all agree to be here in mind too. Shall we?” The lecturer chided James but also the class as well.
“Yes professor,” the class responded in chorus. James replying “… Yes, yes professor” slightly off beat with the rest further exacerbating the disruption and making it all too apparent that James was not all there today.
After class James threw his backpack on and grabbed his bag’s straps in each hand to walk out of the lecture hall. A classmate, turned to look at James and walked over to him.
“Hey James, rough class. Looks like you might have drooled a bit there when you were nodding off in class. You got a few spots on your shirt.”
James looked down and sure enough a wet spot on both sides of James’ chest were there.
“Hey look, James must be sleepy cause he’s leaking!” Another classmate saw James’s shirt and made an extreme joke at James’s expense.
James moved his hands in to cover the spots on his chest in response, embarrassed by the suggestion and not feeling witty enough to be able to fight back. So, James decided to just hurry off to get back to his dorm hiding his shirt from as many people as possible while the chorus of students laughed at James’s expense.
James gets home and inspects his shirt and inspects his chest. He finds…
