This choice: Sure, let's go with that • Go Back...Chapter #7Roy and Lilina swap with other couples by: AlexNotTheOne Lilina was on her own, kneeling next to a pond outside Askr Castle, the upcoming bridal festival had taken a toll on the girl, at first she was excited to know that she and Roy would be dressed as bride and groom!
That thought filled her heart with hope, she would finally be able to tell him what she truly felt, how much she truly loved him, how she wanted them to spend the rest of their lives together! But then she found out that more girls would participate in the festival, girls that also seemed to like Roy, really like him.
This unforseen competition had shaken Lilina to her core, she had known Roy since they were children, their parents were the best of friends, which only helped to strengthen the young nobles' bond, but despite having feelings for Roy for as long as she could remember, she had never stopped to think that maybe he didn't share her feelings, that he just saw her as a friend and just that.
"Roy... sniff..." the girl had started to weep a little, when she looked at her own reflection she did her best to wash away her tears, trying not to look at her own sad face, her eyes eventually landed on some nearby flowers, an idea appeared on the girl's mind, it was childish but her love for Roy had started at a young age... and she lost nothing trying.
Despite her hand shaking she managed to picked a flower, looking the white petals slightly reassured her, she took a deep breath, "He loves me" she started, ripping off one of the petals and throwing it in the pond, "He loves me not..." she continued, a frow on he face as she imagined him walking away with another would be bride, but she quickly shook her head and continued with the ritual, ripping petal after petal.
"...loves me..." she weakly said, noticing there were fewer petals, almost leaving the flower with none, her hands started shaking again as she speculated it would end in 'Loves me not', making her start weeping again, letting go of the flower as she covered her face, not wanting to see herself weeping, "Roy... if only I could..." she couldn't get herself to finish the phrase, not even when she was alone she dared to admit it.
"Well well, what's this adorable child doing here all on her own? Don't you know you could run into some nasty characters around here?" Liliana was startled by a voice coming from behind her, she turned around to see who it was and was meet by Askr's local trickster, Loki, leaning into her with a smirk clear on her lips.
"Or are you planning something mischievous? Who knew Ostia's little princess was such a scamp!" the deity teased, a small chuckle left her lips, but her joyful attitude changed when she saw Lilina was crying, and quickly noticed the shredded flower floating on the pond, "Hmmm I wonder what got you so sad" she knelt next to Lilina, her smirk now changing to caring smile as she brushed away the girl's tears, then proceeding to pat her head, "Now now, why don't you tell your old friend Loki what happened"
"Um... I... um... sniff" Lilina couldn't even look at the woman's eyes, she was too embarrassed to admit what she felt, and she wasn't too keen on the trickster goddess knowing who had won her heart, "R-Roy..." still the word managed to leave her mouth.
"Roy..." Loki repeated, giving Lilina a quick glance and immediately understanding the situation, "Heh, so a little love problem? Why didn't you told me before? I'm a love expert!"
"Y-you are?" the girl asked, immediately earning a nod from Loki, but she was still reluctant to get help from this woman, "But you... you play pranks on people..."
"Well yes, mischievousness is my one true love" the deity smiled as she took a hand to her chest, "But once in a while I like to do what I call my 'one good deed of the year', not to mention that looking at such an adorable girl crying just breaks my little heart!" Loki replied as she pinched Lilina's cheeks.
"But how can you help me... I can't even say what I feel... I just... every time I think about Roy... I..." Lilina's cheeks were now redder than her beloved's hair as images of him came to mind, Loki pinching said cheeks didn't exactly help her feel less embarrassed...
"Don't worry about that, dear, I've got a plan! The Bridal Festival is about to begging and I bet you could learn a lot from the other couples, personally looking at such strong bonds will only help you admit what you feel!" the trickster got up, helping Lilina do the same, "Let's go see Roy!" Lilina nodded, following behind Loki, hoping this one good deed wasn't some specially cruel prank.
---
"There he is" Loki whispered into Lilina's hear, the girl's confidence didn't grew despite looking at so many happy couples and right now she was hiding behind the trickster.
Roy seem to share her worries, but for a different reason, he still felt nervous about the girl who would play the bride's role, yes they wouldn't be really bride and groom as his father had reassured him many time, but the boy still wasn't ready to throw the bouquet, so he made a quick tactical retreat until he was ready to do it.
"Come on" Loki smirked, pushing Lilina towards Roy, the girl seemed terrified, shaking as she desperately tried to get behind Loki once again but it was useless, Roy had already noticed her!
"Lilina?" the Pherae heir raised an eyebrow as he saw her childhood friend being dragged by the trickster, were they going to pull a prank on him?
"Lord Roy!" Loki greeted him, still restraining Lilina in place, holding to the girl's arms so she had no chance to escape, "Lilina here has something to tell you~" age rubbed her face against the mage girl and cooed into her ear, "Isn't that right, Lilina~"
"Uh..." the girl couldn't get the words out, having the real Roy in front of her somehow made the situation even more uncomfortable, "I... I can't do it..." she whispered.
"Ugh, okay so just looking at those couples wasn't enough" the mischievous goddess rolled her eyes, "But don't worry, this is my one good deed of the year, I have a plan B!" Loki said as she pushed Lilina into Roy's arms.
"Ahhhhhh!" the Ostian heir yelled as she fell on top of her friend, it took her only a second to realise that she had fallen to the ground and had taken Roy down with her, now laying on top of him, their bodies pressed against eachother and their faces a few inches away, almost kissing... and for what she could tell, Roy was as embarrassed as her, the crimson cheeks giving it away, "Um... Roy... I..." she tried one more time but just like before she couldn't say it.
"Awwww, you two look so adorable when your embarrassed~" Loki cooed, her smirk still unyielding, she placed a hand on her waist as she raised her staff with the other one, it's purple gem started shinning as she pointed it at the lycian children.
"Don't worry, once I cast this spell you will learn everything there is to know about couples!" after saying that, a beam of light was shot and soon wrapped Lilina and Roy, completely clouding their sight with a purple cloud, once it faded away they noticed they weren't in the ground anymore and there was no trace of Loki.
