Chapter #5Making new friends by: Rosod   Amber nodded her head shylily in agreement to join the group. Instantly, all three of them boasted wide grins and happily celebrated their newest member to the party.
As the four of them left the guild, Amber was informed by Ruth, the gunslinger, what their current quest was.
“We took a contract to deal with some bandits in the north. They are causing issues on a minor trade lane. It shouldn’t be too difficult as long as we don’t do anything stupid.”
Amber tried to look brave, but only felt more nervous when hearing this. After all, it would be the first time she fought someone. Not only that, but she didn’t even know how to cast any spells.
In fact, why did everyone assume that she was a powerful mage? Was it her robes or new silver hair color? She best ask the group, just to be certain.
“S-so… w-w-what g-gave, uhm, it a-away that I a-a-am a m-magic, uhh, caster?” Amber forced herself to ask the question.
Elos, the cute femboy ranger, turned around and had no issues stating why they had made this conclusion,
“Because you’re so flabby of course! Everyone knows that mages and wizards store their mana in excess fat.”
Amber couldn’t help and blush upon hearing this. Looking down at her huge belly, she grabbed some rolls and gave herself a good jiggle.
“T-this is… good?” She still wasn’t quite sure if this was true.
“Yup!” Dhael called out to her from further along the road, “You being a fatass essentially means you can cast better spells!”
Both Ruth and Elos gave the barbarian a glare, clearly showing that they didn’t like her casually dropping insults towards their newest member.
Amber herself couldn’t help but continue to feel flustered and self conscious, but decided to brush it off for now.
A couple hours later and the group was beginning to slow down. All this walking was starting to take a toll on Amber. Breathing heavily and sweating all over, it was obvious that she would need some rest fairly soon.
* GURGLE *
… and maybe get something to eat as well.
In only a couple of minutes, the four of them had set up their tents and lighted a campfire. They all shared jokes and stories, while Amber herself listened and ate a majority of the provisions for the night. This would go on until the sun was set and the moon rose before them. All of them agreed that it was getting late and they ought to go get some sleep.
For Amber, however, this was easier said than done.
Rolling around on the floor, she eventually gave up and grabbed her book, which she had ever since she arrived in this world, and started going through the pages.
All of the spells seemed to be in a language she didn’t understand… except for one.
It was a singular page with the spell being called “Voracious Consumption”. Amber had no idea what it exactly was, but given that she was still a bit hungry she decided to give it a go and casted it.
A low blue light emanated from the book as she felt something change about herself. It was soon over and Amber was simply left dumbfounded and confused. Did the spell not work?
She was about to go back to bed and try to get some sleep again until she looked at her friends.
Dhael, Ruth, and Elos. They all suddenly looked delicious to her, as if she would be able to swallow them all down whole.
The hungry urge was making this a more tempting idea by the second and Amber would have to make a decision now before it was too late…
