To be honest, it was a surprise that it was possible for her to have even been caught.
Madame Clockwork, known for being a master criminal in London with the ability to see forward in time by up to a minute. With this power and her incredible intellect she became a kingpin of crime throughout the entire UK, able to counter everything that the heroes of the region could throw at her with ease. What was more impressive was the fact that she did this when besides seeing forward in time, she was only as strong as a normal human.
Perhaps that last fact explains why it took the Green Giantess to take her down once and for all, after her attempt to hold the Prime Minister hostage in exchange for diplomatic immunity. For as well as her predictive skills were, they were nothing against a hundred-foot tall giant reaching a hand around her limo and pulling her out like she was a potato chip.
Now she was being held in SHINE, Britain's premier prison for metahuman criminals. With a collar wrapped around her neck to negate her precognition, she became unable to predict the future and was thus rendered incapable of formulating a plan to escape from the prison and forced to serve out a life time sentence. This left a power vacuum within London, causing utter chaos around the country and making citizens fear who would fill in the spot that Madame Clockwork used to fill.
Initially, Melanie wanted nothing to do with it. However, Sally Gisket wouldn't stop bugging her about it.
"Come on Melanie, she's a master criminal! Imagine what she could do if she was leading us!" She remembered one of the 5 Sallies saying, while the other four were taking advantage of the buffet.
"I may have Irish blood, but I am an American villain." Melanie countered. "I ain't going to a country where the literal personification of Britain herself can kick my ass. Besides... after Atlantean Italy I've been very cautious about stealing from anywhere in Europe."
"Come on Callie... hey, what about all the treasures she'll have then?"
The sound of treasure perked the Calico Cat's ears once more.
"...You have my attention."
"Yeah, the treasures! The Screech, the Staff of Oz, the Rosetta Stone... she has all of those within her big mansion doesn't she? Perhaps if we save her, we can get our hands on one of them? I've always wanted a rock capable of translating any language..."
"...The Rosetta Stone only translates Ancient Egyptian, Sally. It doesn't translate every language like some damn magic translator device."
"Okay, but that thing is still worth billions! You can't deny that!"
"...I'll think about it." Melanie admitted, crossing her arms.
That was about a week ago, and since then Sally's been calling her every day to ask for if she thought it out. Melanie's ability to handle stupid was good, but not that good. Eventually, she was worn down by the constant asking and eventually complied with Sally's request to join in on this stupid jail break. And of course, she was the one who had to come up with a plan while Sally got plane tickets for the flight to Europe.
"Ugh... why the fuck do I keep hanging out with her, when she makes me do all this stuff for her? I need to pick better friends..."
___
The next day, the two goons made their way to the local airport and, after a delay from stormy weather took the long flight to London. Seeing Big Ben as the plane descended, Melanie smiled a bit from the beauty of the sight and wondered what it'd be like to stand from the peak like one of those vigilantes she'd seen in comic books and video games. Of course, the subsequent sight of the Green Giantess helping put out a fire a few blocks away reminded her of why she didn't exactly want to go to London in the first place.
"Sally, you made sure to pack the uniform I sewn for you, right?"
"Yeah, obviously." Sally admitted, reaching for her suitcase as the plane landed down onto the ground. "But was it necessary to make five of them? My clothes split with me too, you know."
"Hey, those additional copies have different numbers on them." Melanie reported back, reminding her friend. "You'd be easily caught if they saw five different guards with the same number. This is so it'll buy us more time to get in, and then get out."
"Well... in that case I'll need to change after I get to my other selves. They're all on different flights you know, just so I could fit into these seats..."
"Yeah, well blame that on your eating habits."
"Like you're one to talk." Sally bit back, giving a slight tap of the hand to Melanie's soft hips. "At least I can split into 5 of myself to slim down."
"Yeah, yeah... how about you go get a snack for now while we wait for your other selves to arrive? I'm sure they'll love to talk to you about your experiences in a metal box for about 8 hours with nothing but chips to eat."
"Yeah, yeah... seriously though, thanks for coming with me for this."
"...Yeah."
For the next two hours, the two villains waited for the other Sallies to arrive at the airport lobby, with Sally occasionally heading off to the local burger dispenser to grab a snack for the two of them. As soon as all five of the Sallies were together, it was time to get everything in action. The SHINE was about an hour's ride from this place, and after taking a cab to get close to the prison they got ready.
"Alright, you remember what we need to do right?" Melanie asked, to the five brown-haired women that made up Multiplicity as they slipped the last pieces of their uniform on. "Please tell me you remember..."
"We're basically delivering you in and then waiting for you to turn off the security system, right?" Sallies 1 through 4 responded in unison, while Sally 5 was busy sliding the shirt over her head. "Then we just open every single cage until we get to Madame Clockwork right?"
"More or less..." Melanie admitted, pulling the mask down as she finished fitting herself into the Calico Cat costume. "And make sure that my crate is put in with all of the food too. It'll be hard for them to sense a heat signature when I'm among a bunch of hot meals ordered for the inmates."
"Ok but what if they do find you?" Sally 5 asked, as the others started wedging open a box they managed to snag from the shipment that was about to be wheeled in before emptying the frozen pizzas held within. "You think you'll be able to fight your way through?"
"It'll only be a worry if they think I have powers, and I don't. So I think I'm confident in doing this."
Hopping into the crate, Calico Cat watched as the Sallies shut the lid back down before replacing the nails they had torn off to open it up. Where most people would feel at least a bit of claustrophobia after being sealed inside a freezing box, she was used to fitting herself into tight spaces. Hell, even the cold wasn't that much of an issue, not when she was fitted into the winter design of her costume.
With the crate closed, all she could hear from then on was the motions of the crate being picked up and lifted back onto a cart. Checking her phone, she could see that Sally had successfully dropped the box back onto the shipment just in time, as the truck started wheeling further into the facility with the five of them sneaking closely behind. With everything in place, she just had to wait for the the crate to finally stay still long enough for her to know that it was delivered to the right place.
This took... somewhat longer than she thought. As it turned out, the SHINE was a bigger prison than what was publicly known on their website. She felt the motions of an elevator not once, but twice with the second time going down even further than an elevator had any rights of being. By her own counting, it had to have been an entire hour since the shipment started moving when the motions of carrying and driving finally ceased.
"...Is it over? Shit, how deep am I in this place?"
Putting her palm to the wood, Calico Cat slowly pushed each of the inserted nails out of the box before lifting the lid a bit to check her surroundings. There wasn't a security camera as far as she was aware of, and by the looks of things she was in some sort of big walk-in freezer. With nobody else nearby she pulled no punches and kicked straight up, knocking the lid straight off before hopping out on her two feet.
Walking to the door of the freezer, she stayed still as she saw a chef reaching her way in. Standing at the exact same height she was, the redheaded chef closed the door straight behind her, not even noticing her presence as she reached for a rack of sausages to the side. Seeing the opportunity, she leapt forward and plunged a kick into the back of her neck before taking her clothes.
The chef's uniform was somewhat loose on her, but it wasn't like she was going to stay in it for long. She just needed to get past the kitchen so she could reach an air vent. As soon as she was out of the freezer with the sausage rack that the poor chef tried to nab, she was approached by the head chef.
"Ok, you got those sausages Ms. Bing! Good, good! Now take them to C-Level! The Frost Witch's only allowed to eat frozen foods, and if that fatass doesn't get more meat any time soon she's going to start trying to break out again!"
"Right, of course."
Looks like she had just one more thing to do before heading to Madame Clockwork's cell. Hopefully, this would be quick...
