“Are you ok (Insert Your Name Here)?” the man says.
You look up to see its your dad’s friend Bruce, you try and answer but are too shaken too. You slowly rise to your feet but start to fall. Bruce catches you as your body hits his and bumps into his big beer belly. As long as you can remember Bruce has always had some sort of beer belly sometimes bigger sometimes smaller and recently it’s been on the big side of the scale.
“Come on, we better get you out of here and clean those cuts up,” Bruce says caringly as he wraps your arm around his shoulder and slowly make your way back to his car, you were lucky that Bruce just happened to be coming out of the all you can eat buffet next door any later and who knows what might of happened to you.
Bruce opens the passenger door and straps you in as your still feeling a bit dizzy and confused. “There you go bud, I’m going to take you back with me, I know your mum, dad and Mike are away for a while and after today you'll need someone to look after you,” Bruce says.
“Thanks.....Bruce.....but .....what.....about .....your.....wife and .....son?” You ask still short of breath.
Bruce goes silent for a moment. “Don't worry, they've gone to her mums for a few weeks, so I’m all by myself,” Bruce says smiling. He closes the door and walks to the driver’s side; you jump slightly as Bruce's weight makes the car sink slightly.
The drive home was a little dazing but it wasn't too far, Bruce helps you into the house and sits you at the kitchen table to check you over. Being a builder Bruce sees accidents a lot and is trained in some first aid, he gets out a cloth and a bowl of water and cleans your cuts, as he continues Bruce begins to look sad.
“I'm.....I’m sorry I didn't get there sooner (IYNH), if i had none of this would have happened,” Bruce says, you lean forward and hug Bruce and feel his heartbeat quicken.
“No Bruce, you've got nothing to be sorry for, you saved me, you’re a hero,” you say.
Bruce smiles,” Thanks (IYNH), ummm do you want to go lay down on the couch or bed for a while, to relax?” Bruce asks.
“Thanks Bruce, I think I’ll lay on the bed if that’s ok, feel kind of sleepy,” You say.
Bruce helps you up the stairs and makes the bed comfy for you, Bruce sits on the edge of the bed.
“Have a nice sleep and call me if you need anything,” Bruce says and places his hand on your shoulder
You smile and soon drift off to sleep
After 4 hours you’re awoken by a noise, you come to slowly and you see......
