Gatomon landed gracefully on the balcony of the Kamiya apartment as she usually did, the moment she opened the sound proof doors though her sensitive ears were assaulted with an intense, high pitched shriek. Right away her protective instincts kicked in and she leapt inside to fight... no one?
Gatomon stared disbelieving at the sight before her.
The whole family was there, even Tai and Agumon who'd recently returned from college over a break period. Currently both were staring slack jawed at the TV screen the family had been watching. Beside them on the couch their father Susumu Kamiya had seemed to have passed out and their mother Yuuko Kamiya seemed to be shaking him desperately to wake him.
Gatomon had barely taken all this in before she was suddenly scooped up by Kari who once again make the squealing shriek Gatomon had mistaken for a scream of fear. Now up close (painful as it was) the white and purple feline could detect it was a squeal of excitement. She kept bouncing up and down as she twirled holding Gatomon in a near choking embrace. All the while squealing, 'We won! We won! We won! We won!'
Finally Gatomon managed to pull free enough to take a breath, "What's going on Kari?" she asked, nervous that some evil digimon had damaged her family's minds, "What's gotten into you?"
"Gatomon," Kari grinned the largest smile she'd ever shown, "We won! My Dad bought the lucky lottery ticket! And we won!"
"Won what?" Gatomon asked, still feeling unsure. She knew some things about the human world but this was a new experience for her.
"The lottery," Kari smiled, barely able to explain from her excitement, "We won the jackpot! Forty-five billion Yen!" *
"Is that a lot?" Gatomon asked, her eyes growing wide. She'd never had to deal with more than a few yen for vending machines before when she got thirsty out on her patrols.
"A lot?" Agumon seemed to snap out of his daze at Gatomons question, "It's enough to buy out almost every business for ten blocks in every direction."
Tai chimed in, "It's enough that if we spent eighteen yen a second all day, every day, for the rest of our lives, we still wouldn't have used it up before we die."
Kari held Gatomon close and smiled, "It means we're set for life Gatomon. Everything we could ever want and then some."
Gatomons mind reeled and she suddenly understood why Susumu had fainted. "I... I think I need to lay down Kari..."
Kari nodded and carried Gatomon to her room and placed the tired feline on her bed, "Just relax Gatomon, tomorrow things will start changing for us."
The feline just nodded as she settled in and tried to fall asleep...
