A tawny furred form moved amongst the shadows of the high-rises of the city, carefully staying out of sight. Her golden, catlike eyes scan the immediate area before she nods, spreading her huge, batlike wings and gliding over to the roof a nearby grocery store.
The elegant creature landed roughly, skidding slightly and chiding herself on her landing. She looked up, hearing a rustling of wings, and smiled, seeing a red-skinned gargoyle flying over her head.
She grinned and waved to him. The red-skinned, beaked creature waved back to her and blew her a kiss before gliding on, causing the catlike woman to blush.
Her name was Maggie Reed, although now she went by Maggie the Cat. She was a human woman who had come to New York a few years ago, only to fall on very hard times and become homeless. She had let herself be tricked by a man named Anton Sevarius into coming to his lab, being mutated into a massive, gargoyle-like humanoid with a lioness's head, bat wings, catlike feet, tawny-yellow fur covering her whole body, and the ability to generate tremendous amounts of electricity. It had taken a while, but with the help of her lover, who had also been victimized by Sevarius and become a panther mutate, and the mysterious gargoyles, including Brooklyn, whom had just flown over her, and who had never really gotten over his crush on her, she had managed to accept her lot in life and use her newfound strength and powers to help others.
She, her lover (now called Talon) and a tiger mutate named Claw had set up shop in an abandoned underground facility, using it to give a warm place to stay for the homeless of the city. She was now going on a run to acquire some food for the people there. After some early problems, Talon had made arrangements with several sympathetic store owners, and gained a full working system that provided for the people they took care of. They maintained a steady friendship with the gargoyles and sometimes worked together.
Now she had other concerns on her mind, such as the garnering of food for the homeless in the city this evening. But her plans would not come into fruition tonight...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
