Chapter #6

The Shrunken Mess

    by: mango24 Author IconMail Icon
Jena saw a flash, and then all went dark. After what seemed to be ages (when it really was about five minutes) she awoke. Her head seemed to hurt really bad."Uh...what happened." "Greg, Jake, wake up." She looked around, where were they? Everything here seemed a lot bigger.

"Sara, it'll be okay. We just have to find a way to get our parent's attention to change us back. We just need to be a little more careful." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a large flash. He was curious to find out what the heck that was. "Hey Sara, c'mon. Anything is better than just sitting around here.
Sara ran with all her might and crashed into Jena with a full force hug. Oh Jena, its awful. We're shrunk...

What? Really. How?

The shrink ray, of course. But that's not the worse part, Mike's dead.

You have got to be kidding me? Jake said unenthusiatic

"Hey that's my line!" Jena exclaimed.

Would you guys stopped fussing over such a unimportant matter. Mom stepped on him.

On purpose?

No, she thought we we're bugs. But, that's not the worst part. Apparently, now we're 1/32 of an inch. That was what the machine was set on when I pressed the button. I'm surprised mom could see us, but there is hope. Yet, when dad demonstrated his machine to us...he told us there was a flaw.

And what flaw would that be?

We don't stay at that shrunken height; we'll keep get smaller. It won't be much of a difference to us, but with each passing second, we're getting smaller. I judge that we're at 1/64 of an inch now.

Are you sure?

There was a piece of aluminum foil on the ground, and I was just as tall as it is wide a minute ago.

Oh, man!

So, how do you propose we get out of here?

Just then, all five of the kids heard a thumping.

Oh no! hollered Ben.

What? said Jena.

Somebody's coming down the stairs! Ben said in that all to feeble voice.
