His head still spinning, tiny Bryan Smith lurched to his feet, still discombobulated by the unexpected turn of events.
A thousand thoughts fought for supremacy, but survival instinct kicked into gear and claimed dominance in the shrunken man's brain when the titanic exterminator began stomping across the kitchen floor, his Size 14 work boots thundering across the tiles.
"Oh god!" Bryan screamed as adrenaline began to pump through his system. It was fight or flight time, and he knew very well the consequences of even imagining a fight against one of those enormous boots.
No, for the tiny man, reduced to the size of a bug by his own folly, it was definitely time for flight.
He didn't completely panic. "If I can make it to the baseboard along the bottom of the wall, I can avoid his feet," he told himself.
Of course, that involved a sprint across a wide distance of open floor.
As he stared up again at the enormous exterminator, his eyes took in the immense form. The guy wore a pair of tight jeans and an equally tight T-shirt emblazoned with the name and logo of the extermination firm. Earlier, the kitchen had looked humongous. Now, the gigantic human stomping across the floor made the room seem smaller.
Bryan swallowed weakly when his eyes lingered on the logo. Someone had a twisted sense of humor, he decided. The logo depicted the sole of an upraised boot coming down on a tiny bug.
He jerked his gaze from the logo, ventured to seek out the colossal face. The swarthy face looked youthful but powerful.
He mortified himself by sprouting wood as he let his imagination wander into dangerous territory, wondering what the titan might look like beneath his clothes.
"I don't have time for this," Bryan admonished himself. He wished he had managed to at least put on some of his pre-shrunk clothes before the unexpected arrival of the exterminator. Being tiny and naked made him feel doubly vulnerable.
"I just need to stay out of his way until..."
He didn't finish his statement because at that moment...
