Chapter #7

Tommy's Arrival

    by: Small1 Author IconMail Icon
At first, the shrunken scientist fought to get free of the fly's grasp, but after a look down at the distant floor he realized the peril of making the winged insect drop him from such a height.

If those spiky limbs released their grasp on the collar of his tiny shirt, the drop to the distant floor looked to be a very long one. The speck-sized man cursed his bad luck when the fly veered around the colossal kitchen. All he could do at this point was hope the insect would make a landing before dropping him.

The insect buzzed toward a wide glass pane and began beating itself against the transparent obstacle. Of course, every impact jarred the insect's tiny captive as well.

Suddenly, the fly made a sharp turn, flying away from the window and out of the kitchen. The little man screamed as the fly zipped past gigantic furniture and flew below the enormous light fixture descending from the ceiling in the living room.

A strong breeze caused the insect to beat its wings faster to compensate. That's when the tiny scientist saw his teenaged neighbor standing in the open doorway.

"Oh my god!" Mr. Smith screamed. "He's huge."

Tommy closed the front door and walked across the room. The fly's tiny captive watched in awe every move the titan made.

Suddenly, the fly buzzed around Tommy's head. Mr. Smith saw the teenager's huge ears and then was carried across the forest of brown hairs atop Tommy's head. In the next instant, the fly buzzed right in front of Tommy's enormous and handsome face.

Mr. Smith, from only inches away, marveled at the titanic teenager's large eyes, the steep slope of his nose and the wide, full lips. Based on the stubble, the teenager looked in need of a shave.

The bug of a man tried to wave."Tommy! It's me! Help!"

Unexpectedly, Tommy waved a hand, aiming for the pesky fly. The winged insect had no trouble dodging the clumsy swing, but the onrushing hand terrified the shrunken scientist.

"No! Don't!" Mr. Smith cried. "You'll crush me!"

Fortunately, the fly soared higher and Tommy continued his trek toward the kitchen. When the fly's flight path leveled off, the tiny man watched the enormous teenager pick up the small package from the table.

"No! I'm not in there yet!" He tried to shout at the oblivious giant.

Tommy, having obtained the package and the money, decided to exit through the kitchen's back door. He opened the door again just as the fly made another dive toward the titan's head.

Hearing the irritating buzz, the teenager swatted again and missed again.

Then, the shrunken man saw another danger. The fly headed toward the open door, ready to escape into the great outdoors.

"No!" The little man screamed...
