This choice: Tell Perd about Greyhawk city • Go Back...
Chapter #5
A secret revealed
by: Unknown
(Oh, well. I put the actual text for this one under the other entry--so let's swap. Even though the links say otherwise, this is the entry for telling Perd about Greyhawk city.)
Something about Perd's manner inspires you to trust him--or perhaps it's some form of desperation. If you don't know anyone, you must trust someone sometime.
Briefly, you lay out for Perd your circumstances as you know them. You have no memory, you must get to Greyhawk, and you're looking for a particular tavern. You had three companions.
Perd looks at you. "You don't know who you are?" he says quietly.
"No."
"Keep your voice down."
"Certainly."
"Let's go to the jakes."
"I don't need--"
"You need to. Trust me."
Outside, you don't head for the privy--instead, you duck around the side of the building. Perd leads you along, then he kneels before you.
"Your Majesty."
"What?"
"You're a king. Not one of the bigger ones, a vassal king, but if you're not King Amostera, you look just like him. He's missing, so that fits."
"Why would they leave a king in the middle of the marsh? Why not have a healer nearby?"
"Why would they leave an ensorcelled copy of a king in a marsh? Don't let on you haven't your memory; others may try to make use of that."
