MEET JACK.

He's an app fanatic with a vivid imagination, a flair for creating, and an obsession with books and theater.

And at five years old, he designed his first app:
Happy Travels™

A FREE APP FOR ALL AGES

Become Jack and travel through a series of worlds, each designed as a different book performed on a theater stage. Make new discoveries, collect treasures and earn trophies to move onto the next book in the series. The initial release of Happy Travels includes 6 different books with 15 chapters each, resulting in 90 unique levels of gameplay!

THE MOST EPIC FAMILY PROJECT EVER

Jack came up with the concept, created the look, designed the logo... and then instructed his parents how he wanted it brought to life. Mommy scanned every single drawing and Daddy brought them to life with code. It was a true family effort to bring you Happy Travels.

COLORFUL & CREATIVE DRAWINGS

Every image in Happy Travels was hand-drawn by Jack using only his pencil and Crayola® crayons. He spent over four months designing vibrant sceneries, colorful characters and other imaginative details!

MAKE JACK SMILE... DOWNLOAD HIS APP

Jack loves numbers. Downloads, likes, shares, and comments all make him a happy traveler. Since the app is free, please consider showing Jack that hard work and dedication pay off by taking a few moments to see and share what he's created!

ONE DAY...

Five-year old Jack was reading his books and dreaming of the far away places in them. (He has been reading since he was four.)

YOU SEE...

He is very proud of his book collection. It's full of travel, history, science, Magic Treehouse, lots of chapter series, and every nature book you can imagine. (This is only one of his many shelves.)

THE STORY OF HAPPY TRAVELS

How did a five year old design an app? Well, let us tell you!

THIS GOT HIM THINKING...

THEN DADDY SAID...

"Hey, Jack, since you love apps so much and want to learn to code, you should come up with a game concept. Draw something we can use to put into motion. We'll use that as our spring semester family project." (We cyber school. We are big fans of cool, creative projects. This one above was a homemade gameboard Jack made to play with his little sister.)

WHAT COULD HIS THEME BE?

WHAT WOULD HE WANT TO PLAY?

WHAT WOULD INTEREST HIM?

THEN IT HIT HIM...

The Bermuda Triangle! He would create a game based on the Bermuda Triangle, one of his favorite places to read about.

HE BEGAN TO DRAW...

Using his pencil and Crayola Crayons, Jack drew his first part of the game: the ship. He said this ship would travel through the Bermuda Triangle and have to get by mysterious creatures to finish a level. He drew the creatures, the waves, the sky, the clouds, and more creatures. And he was hooked.

A GAME WAS BORN...

After the Bermuda Triangle idea was thought out, he kept going and came up with more "worlds" he wanted in his game... which led to his game name of "Happy Travels". He imagined it as a series of books, where each chapter in the book would be the next level of the game. Jack came up with his own logo, complete with the treasure chests that would be an integral part of the game. He worked on the ideas, learning how to storyboard the entire concept of the game along the way.

HE WORKED HARD

Every single day for almost four months, Jack would take at least an hour to work on his game, drawing creatures, vehicles, scenery, treasures, trophies, and more. Armed with his box of Crayola crayons (which he carries everywhere), he was unstoppable.

HIS GOAL...

Jack's goal was to have his part of the app finished while he was still five years old. He worked hard and he did it!

SUCCESS!

Jack finished his app before he turned six years old and he is pretty proud of that. Books 1 through 6 in Happy Travels were created when he was five. He plans to continue Books 7 through 11 when he's six. His ideas are endless.

PRETTY PLEASE?

And now, Jack is waiting for "everyone in the world" (his words) to download his app. He will absolutely ask us, every morning when he wakes up: Mommy, what are the numbers? How many likes do we have? How many people downloaded my app yesterday? Please, help us get our determined little man the numbers he's looking for!
