I am a fellow participant in "Blog Week Birthday Bastion 2025Open in new Window..

I noticed you went with the music part of the prompt. Good idea. I noticed that there was some issue with seeing the video. I was able to view it without any VPN shenanigans. I wonder why? I must have terrible security settings. Or something like that.

You lead into the writing with this statement: "my relationship to music is not a popular one, and my opinion on the subject is definitely in the minority" The one thing I didn't get from the text is what your relationship to music really is. I kept waiting to find something definitively unpopular, but this statement seems to live by itself there.

Maybe it's because, for once, you're not that different from others. I didn't have as many varied instruments to learn as you, but I did play the flute and some piano. My taste in music may not have radically changed since I found my groove, but I have discovered new styles of music that I enjoy. And determining as an adult that opera isn't for you ... well, I don't think opera is a mainstream thing. I don't know what they're saying and the music is strange too.

I probably knew about autotune, or at least understood the concept, but I never knew what it's called. I agree though that there are too many music "stars" who are just performers who have agreed to live in a gilded cage of public opinion for the dubitable honor of pretend-singing produced music.

As always, competent writing.
