I never heard of Christmas in July until this month. I researched it and discovered some interesting information.
Apparently it begin, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, in 1933. It is celebrated on July 24 and 25 as a secular celebration. The idea is to bring families together, give gifts, and have a good time. This is one view of Christmas in July.
Another website said it is a month long celebration in the Southern Hemisphere. Since I have never been to the Southern Hemisphere, I would not know how authentic this information is.
We are celebrating Christmas in July here at the Senior Citizens home. The Christmas tree is decorated in the dining room. I do not know what is planned for the celebration, but I will be making a blog entry about it.
It sounds like a fun celebration. I am looking forward to posting about it both in my blog and on Facebook. Happy Christmas in July to everyone.
