Letter from the editor

Hello folks! Welcome to the spookiest month of the year. *Ghost*

Yes, this is the Comedy Newsletter. But, humor can be added even in the horror genre. I hope you've found a way to incorporate a bit of comedy in the most dire of situations. Now that would take talent! *Smirk*

Spooktober, as I love to call it, is filled with festive Halloween Handles and other activities that bring in the spirit throughout the halls of WDC. I hope you've been joining in.

Now, onto a comedy of terror and things that go bump in the night...

It truly was a dark and stormy night. I was alone with my young son in the antique home. My husband was working out of state at the time. I didn't fear being alone in that big, drafty house. However, I did like listening to Art Bell at the time. He was talking about ghosts and had guests who described their experiences with the spirit world.

Now, commercials with that late night radio show were long and many. I'd usually get bored enough to fall asleep even though I was looking forward to hearing more from the guest. My last thoughts as I fell asleep was her talking about banging noises in her home. It was as if cupboard doors were opening and shutting in the kitchen.

I was asleep. It might have been about 3:00 a.m. when I was awakened by this ominous music. It was coming from downstairs. I grabbed my revolver and quietly crept my way toward the stairs. I knew my house well, and could maneuver easily in the dark. There were no lights on below--just sound. I stepped down each step softly. My back was against the wall to keep cover as long as possible. What if it was some human and not a ghost? I couldn't shoot a ghost. I knew that. My mind prepared for it being a human who broke into my home.

Down the last step, I saw a glowing light ahead of me against the far wall of that room. Suddenly, the soft music blared into a raging clash! Voices were loudly singing ...the Alleluia Chorus of Handel's Messiah.! *Laugh*

This ghostly mystery got solved! It appears that I pushed some buttons on my stereo earlier in the day. I didn't realize the button I pushed was a sleep alarm. It used music to lull a person awake ...at 3:a.m. in the morning, after I fell asleep listening to ghost stories! *Rolling*

Well folks, life does have a way of turning horror to humor. Maybe you'll find yours and add that bit of spooky to a story with a comical ending.

This is all the funny-fright this witch wrote for this edition of the Comedy Newsletter.

Thankfully the dentist visit went well. I am relieved. One more visit to change the temporary fix to permanent.
