Are the winter holidays the most wonderful time of year? Not for everyone! For those living in Long Term Care Facilities it can be the worst time of year. This is because they don't have friends or family nearby.
Christmas and my 79th birthday is approaching. I will remain here, with only the residents, nurses, and CNAs to keep me company and talk to. Some of the residents will have family or friends visitig them and some will be without family and friends.
Some residents will receive holiday cards and some will not. Even if no one visits a phone call or email is nice, because it shows someone remembers and misses them. It is comforting to be remembered and missed.
The holidays aside, this is an interesting place. There are activities, theorpy, and people to talk to and joke with. Still it would be nice to hear or see family and friends.
Remember your older relatives and friends this time of year. Remember and pray for them all year long.
