Magic doesn't belong under any specific genre, but you can find it in many different books. From dark to light. It can be used for good or in dark settings such as cults. It is what you believe it is. If there is a light side of magic, then there has to be a dark side as well. It cannot be otherwise. But for some reason many don't believe that the dark side of magic actually exists. I am not sure why that is.

If you stop and look around you, if you're out in nature and listen, aren't you surrounded by the simple magic of mother nature? Everything is connected and one breathes life into the other. Not sure how it can be overlooked, but it can be ignored. People's lives are too busy to stop and enjoy the beauty of the world. Not to mention, preoccupied with their daily lives to pay much attention to it.

If we're surrounded by light, then there is darkness in life, too. It comes in different shapes and forms. When life gets overwhelming, people do things they may never have thought of otherwise. However, we just blame it on life. The seven sins are a perfect example of how dark magic can enter one's life. I've also talked about a similar subject in one of my previous newsletters, but perhaps it's time to refresh our memory.

Evil does exist, whether you believe in it or not. All you have to do is look around and pay attention to our lives of today compared to how life was some twenty years ago. It may not have anything to do with magic but more likely than not, someone out there has stronger beliefs in what could bring them fame, fortune, and perhaps immortality. Otherwise where do all the stories come from? Where do all the tales start out at? Is it really just imagination?
