About This Newsletter
Hi, I'm sybaritescribe.

Noticing Newbies newsletter. Join me as I take you into some nooks and crannies of Writing.Com that you may not have found time to check out yet.

Don't forget to toss me a note about what you liked or didn't like in my column, or about a topic you'd like to see discussed. This newsletter is about and for you. And for you seasoned members, I hope you'll find something you can take from my ramblings.

Letter from the editor
Today is the last day of the month of September. And it's the last day for the month-long Writing.Com annual festivities. Arguably, the WDC anniversary activities last the first seven days of the month. But many member-run activities last the entire month. This may be your past chance to participate.

Of course, contests, raffles, auctions and writing activities go on throughout the year. Indeed, you may have taken part in Writing.Com's new
Writing Season. More than 260 members are taking part in Writing Season with at least half signed on to October's Base Camp and November's Marathon. More than 100 participants are signed up for all three, called the Triple Crown. Already in one month, almost 1.7 million words have been written by 290 members supporting this activity.

You can find out everything you need to know about the Writing Season by clicking on the banner near the top of the Navigation menu on the left side of your page.

After today (30 Sep), the September: Fun Run is history. But you can still head up to Base Camp. Use the month of October to position yourself for the Marathon in November. That's Writing.Com's version of the past NaNoWriMo event. But instead of a 50K word goal under NaNoWriMo, you can choose a 25K, 50K, 75K, or 100K goal.

This entire activity is a one-time event this year. If you miss out on the 2026 Writing Season, you'll have to wait until
next September to participate. So, sign up for the October and November activities NOW.

I've completed NaNoWriMo twice, and I can tell you there are few writing events more satisfying than completing such an auspicious activity.

What kind of writer are you? Did you join WDC to improve your writing abilities? Were you looking for a place to showcase your work? Are you looking for help to write the novel you've always wanted to write? All those reasons, and more, are why many members joined. And this is why the Writing Season activity was created.

In addition to this newsletter, The StoryMistress has put together a group of more than 100 members to help advertise the Writing Season event both online and in your hometowns. They are called the Cheer Crew. Drop me a line below if you've seen such an advertisement and become a member of Writing.Com.

Write on!

Ask & Answer
Thanks for spending time with me today. At the bottom of every newsletter is a section entitled:
*Bullet* *Bullet* *Bullet* Don't Be Shy! Write Into This Newsletter! *Bullet* *Bullet* *Bullet*

followed by a text box. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.

From the Newsfeed for "Moving Up"

From seb72: I’m actually on a paid membership already, but I’m still trying to figure out exactly what that gives me and, more importantly, what I’m still missing.

I’ve noticed that there are things I apparently can’t access even with my current paid membership, but I honestly haven’t been here long enough at this level to know whether upgrading would really add anything useful for me.

For now, I’m still discovering what the different extras actually offer and which ones would genuinely make a difference to how I use WDC. So I’m interested in learning more, but I’m not quite ready to move up simply for the sake of having a higher membership level.

From dragondawn: I would because my item count for my portfolio is maxed out, but the only level above upgraded is significantly more expensive and other than increasing the item amount I can have it doesn't have anything I actually care about.

From mousethyme: My upgraded membership is sufficient. I've had higher memberships before, but it wasn't worth the expense. If I had an activity such as
"WDC Dragon Vale "  it might be, but none of mine have ever panned out that way.

From brontosaurus: I can't live without the Quick Edit which is the full screen edit available for Premium members.

From 3mptyh34rt5: I MIGHT have leveled up to Upgraded if I joined to fill my portfolio. But since I do mainly Interactive chapters, which do not appear to count towards the 10-Interactive limit for Basic membership (I once saw a profile with over 8 THOUSAND Interactive chapters written), there isn't really a reason to upgrade my membership.

From bus45man80: For myself, I'm cool. But if I may make a suggestion, if you're thinking that you're going to post a lot of writings. Get the 250 version that allows you to. What I did.

From steven-writer: If I could afford it and know I could keep on affording it, I definitely would.
