Poem describing how True Love can creep up on you unawares |
| “My Heart Made a Bet” A long time ago, my heart made a bet, That giving in to love, would only curse me with regret. My mind made a decision, to ignore every distraction; Surely life would be good, even without fatal attraction. My future promised success and higher education; I couldn’t waste my time with shallow infatuation. But then I looked into your eyes, and felt a spark in my soul; And before I could protest, a flame had begun to grow. It didn’t take long, for my heart to give itself away; Just please don’t be wrong, I prayed and I prayed. Now I count myself blessed, to behold a gift so grand; And still I’m filled with wonder, every time we hold hands. Not many can boast of an opportunity so rare, Of a love that is pure, with which nothing can compare. |
