A Stranger's Eyes

A poem I wrote about 8 years ago.

I am looking into a stranger's eyes
I see years of hurt and pain
I can tell that she doesn't let anyone see
That she secretly lives in pain

I can tell that no one was there
When she needed them the most
I can tell that she stayed up all night
talking to somebody's ghost

I can see that nobody would listen
I can tell that nobody cared
I can feel that she needed someone
So she wouldn't have to be scared

So I looked a little deeper
I can tell she is all alone
The eyes that I am looking in
Well...they are...my own!
