A little girl says hello to a hummingbird - a rhyming poem. |
| Janice stared precociously Through her bedroom window, And saw a tiny hummingbird To which she said, ‘hello’. This rare and gifted creature Heard the young girl’s greeting, And thoughtfully exchanged hello’s, So gracious toward this meeting… At first, she was completely stunned, But then her smile beamed – A hummingbird just spoke to her, At least that’s what it seemed… She called to brother Joseph To meet this talking bird, But he just laughed and shook his head, And replied she was absurd! The hummingbird got frightened By the little girl’s pleas, So he flew away, distrustfully, And hid behind some trees. She would never question That this bird was really real – But never did she tell a soul, For fear of much ordeal. The knowledge of a crazy fool Can close an open mind; But saner folks will doubt this, too, And never act so blind! |
