The story of a ranger serving his city, skilled in the ways of war, searching for peace

This is a work in progress. It started as a short, 1000 word story for the writer's cramp contest. I expanded it from there, but it seems this character want the rest of his story told. I don't really know where this is going, but it seems interesting, so I'll keep writing. Let me know what you think!
