Shine on me your merciful light,
help me through the fearful night.
Lift me God, from the thorns of life,
so I can live my future without strife.

For too long I have been rude and rough,
inconsiderate, hasty, harsh and tough.
Lead me to the path of calm and humility,
show me Father, the way to ease and ability.

I thought I could fight any force single-handed,
but I was the perfect egotist that ever landed.
You, and You alone can open the door to peace,
a world of bliss where my sorrow will cease.

Shine on me Your incandescent love and grace;
so my life from now on will take on a new phase.
I slowly begin to know the overflowing happiness;
Your ways of wisdom shatter the gloom of sadness.
