Ears

A quick reflection on the importance of not only hearing, but listening as well.

You have been speaking.
I have been hearing you, but I have not been listening.
There lies the difference.
Your words are valid and legitimate,
And full of importance. I know this.
It happens that I have been too preoccupied with my own thoughts to consider yours.
I’ve been walking around in my own head, having a narrow perspective.

Please tell me again, and I promise
This time I will listen.
