Broken

How someone can feel after a relationship breaks down.

Broken,
In every sense of the word;
Broken without a word being spoken.

You smashed me
To pieces;
My heart knows what defeat is.

It dips
Almost forgetting to breathe,
So forgive me if I cry when you leave.

But you see
You've taken my life,
You who I adore...my wife.

We talk and talk
But nothing is said,
Meaningless words seem to fall from your head.

I thought
I meant something to you,
But you hurt me...YOU.

Yet you smile
Like an old friend;
But I know, it's only pretend.

I don't know
How you live with yourself,
How you dare to justify yourself.

But
You do.
I'm broken...by you.
