A poem for the Lighthouse poetry contest. |
| Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. To The Almighty I owe everything. I never have to think to quench my thirst, Happy: I feel that I am not accursed. I know not what are hunger, poverty. I treat Him with utmost care, loyalty. Never did I desire for more money, I feel wholly satisfied and bonny. I feel for those who do not have shelter, Aghast at their sorry state, I falter. I feel blessed that I have a sweet home, Feel pain for those who lie in streets and roam. I think of His boons even in sorrow, For He always brings a new tomorrow. I think of Him when I feel sad, lonely, His love is enough to make me happy. For being His daughter, I take sheer pride. The rough struggles of life, I put aside. For what I have ,I owe Him gratitude. To fight hardships- I plead for fortitude. 20 lines Poet's device: Consonance CONSONANCE - The effect achieved when words have the same stressed consonant sound, but not the same vowel sound (brick - black). |
