My own version of this favourite Psalm

New Psalm 23

The Lord is my rescuer; He lifts me out of my trouble.
He takes me to a place of safety, away from the sinking sands.
He restores my self-respect. He puts me on solid ground.
Though I didn’t deserve it, you took pity on me and raised me up. You were merciful to me and showed me a new way to live.
You prepare good things for me; me of all people. Your forgiveness and kindness to me, a sinner, leaves my cup running over.
Surely your grace and mercy I will remember all the days of my life, and I will try to follow you from now on.
