Fashion Statement

You think I have no thoughts at all
but you’re so wrong! If you’ll recall,
from leaves to cloth, my history
is helping keep your modesty.

Vinyl clad, I am, today,
a rainbow colored vast array
of possibilities displayed
for those who’ll stand up unafraid.

Some say I’m fashion, even chic.
Regardless, all say I’m unique
reflecting places where I go
from your head down to your toe.

Oh sure, you think that I don’t care,
approaching life as laissez-faire,
ignoring all the elements
because I’m canvas (like in tents).

I’ve even had my praises sung.
I’ve mesmerized the old and young,
as on a stage they watched me swirl
embraced by the “Material Girl!”

Visionaries know I’m more
than boots or dresses in a store;
my glossy pride has no abatement –
I’m proud to be a fashion statement!
