Dismissed

another poem about a breakup

Somewhere along the way,
We were friends.
You loved and cared for me.
Though, now I can’t say when.

We sleep, but not together.
We breathe a different air.
I cared for you and loved.
Now, I can’t say where.

It’s further from my mind.
Housed on another planet.
I try to think of what I saw.
Now, I can’t stand it.

So mean and disrespectful.
Nothing good enough.
Easily tossed aside, dismissed.
My guess, I just gave up.

Did you change or stay the same?
I can’t swear I noticed.
I know we changed to someone else.
Our love became unfocussed.

Maybe anger is all I have.
It’s all I really need.
It got me through the good days.
It’ll get me through the weeds.
