A Sad Christmas

For the loved ones we have lost over time.

It's the night before Christmas
I'm alone in my house.
Not a thing was stirring,
including my mouse.

It's a sad time of year,
with very little to cheer.
The happiness is gone;
Now all that's left is fear.

Not knowing what the
New Year will bring;
Much more sadness
with every church bell ring?

I do make one promise
to the one that I love.
I will stay strong from
your blessings above.

A Sad Christmas it is this year.
For you are
very much missed,
my most precious dear.
