Happy Birthday

Monty and Jacqui's Birthday

Monty and Jacqui were
born as feral cats.
On 2016's leap year day
which is a fact.

This makes them special
in some cosmic way.
Which brought them to us
on one special day.

3 months had passed
when my Big Jack died.
We needed to find Mitzy new friends
as her heart continuously cried.

We went looking throughout
all the shelters we knew.
Until we came to PARL
to rescue these two.

Monty and Jacqui came to us in June of 2016.
It cost the lives of our Mama and Jack so Monty and Jacqui wouldn’t
be euthanized, which would have been heartbreaking and mean.
We knew exactly what to do, doing nothing, would have been obscene.

We took them home
where they’ll always be safe.
A place to eat, drink and be merry,
instead of becoming like waifs.

Mitzy, Monty and Jacqui have now become friends.
It took a while but the means had an end.
We’re wishing Monty and Jacqui a Happy Birthday this day.
May they stay healthy with more lives, in which to play.
