Lakota for "First to Arise"1,
Kevin Locke
entertains and educates
as he moves across the stage
hoops twirling.

His stated goal:
“Through my music and dance,
         I want to create a positive awareness
                   of the Oneness of humanity.”2
He dedicates his life
and his art to Baha'u'llah.

I listen,
breathless,
as his flute echoes
the wind blowing across
his native land.

He is the artist,
the story teller,
and the dancer
intoning a prayer
to the Great Spirit.

I watch,
awestruck,
as he and the hoops
dance across the stage;
poetry in motion.
