Dissipating Depression

The effect of reading my favorite Bible Verses

As the sunsets,
behind autumns dark mountains,
a weariness embraces my mind
and anxiety rises
out of my soul.

My heart beats faster,
depression ensues,
and the day's happiness disappears
with the sun.

I whisper a prayer,
open the sacred scriptures
to one of my favorite passages,
intone God's Holy Word,
and feel the Holy Spirit's glad. joy
dissipate my melancholy.
