God is a mystery
A mystery though history
Beyond all thought
Our grasp falls short

But this I know
He chose to show
Mercy to me
Even me.

His love unswerving
Came to me undeserving
Took me by surprise
Arrested my demise.

I had lived a life
Of blatant sin and strife
But He intervening
Gave my existence new meaning.

He turned my life around
New habits I have found
He showed me a different way
To live with Him day by day.

Jesus was a name
I often took in vain
But now it’s the sweetest sound
A forever friend I’ve found.

Although He’s a mystery
I know he is here with me
Sufficient is the little I know
As forward with him I go.
